Perfluorosulfonic Acid Membranes Modified with Polyaniline and Hydrothermally Treated for Potentiometric Sensor Arrays for the Analysis of Combination Drugs.

A novel potentiometric multisensory system for the analysis of sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim combination drugs was developed. The potentiometric sensors (Donnan potential (DP) was used as an analytical signal) with an inner reference solution were based on perfluorosulfonic acid (PFSA) membranes modified with polyaniline (PANI) by in situ oxidative polymerization. The order of the membrane treatment with precursor solutions and their concentrations was varied.

Multisensory Systems Based on Perfluorosulfonic Acid Membranes Modified with Polyaniline and PEDOT for Multicomponent Analysis of Sulfacetamide Pharmaceuticals.

The degradation of sulfacetamide with the formation of sulfanilamide leads to a deterioration in the quality of pharmaceuticals. In this work, potentiometric sensors for the simultaneous determination of sulfanilamide, sulfacetamide and inorganic ions, and for assessing the degradation of pharmaceuticals were developed. A multisensory approach was used for this purpose.

Interim Results of the BYHEART Observational Study: Exogenous Phosphocreatine Effect on the Quality of life of Patients with Chronic Heart Failure.

Aim      Improvement of quality of life is one of the most important goals for the treatment of patients with chronic heart failure (CHF). This study searched for ways to increase the efficiency of CHF treatment based on parameters of quality of life in CHF patients during and after the treatment with exogenous phosphocreatine (EP).Material and methods  The effect of a single course of EP treatment on quality of life of patients with functional class (FC) II-IV CHF with reduced or mid-range left ventricular ejection fraction was studied as a part of the all-Russia prospective observational study BYHEART.

Reproduction and mortality rates in ecologically distinct species of murid rodents.

The trade-off between reproduction and somatic maintenance is one of the most studied concepts of modern evolutionary ecology. This theory predicts a negative relationship between maximum species longevity and total reproductive output. However, studies performed on natural animal populations have found contradictory results, probably due to the unlikelihood of wild animals gaining both maximum longevity and maximum potential fecundity.

Reproduction, ageing, and longevity in two species of laboratory rodents with different life histories.

Social subterranean rodents of the Bathyergidae family are known to have extended longevity and some signs of negligible senescence, although the manifestation of these traits depends on the reproductive status of individuals. Such enormous life history peculiarities are usually explained by the specificity of a subterranean way of life. If so, all subterranean rodents, regardless of their taxonomic position, are expected to have higher maximum lifespans and shorter senescence periods than the related above-ground species.

Eusocial subterranean rodents of the Bathyergidae family have enormous longevity. The long lifespan of these species is associated with negligible senescence, that is, an absence of the signs of age-related deterioration in physical condition. The analysis of long standing morbidity of zooanthroponosis trichophytosis was carried out. Objective: To analyze clinical features of the nervous system damage in syphilis taking into account the changes in the content of cerebrospinal fluid and clinical/anatomical brain damages of the brain.

Methods: The study was based on the analysis of 47 case histories of patients hospitalized in 1995-2001. The group included 47 patients, aged from 17 to 60 years.

Effects of the mitochondria-targeted antioxidant SkQ1 on lifespan of rodents.

The effect of the mitochondria-targeted, plastoquinone-containing antioxidant SkQ1 on the lifespan of outbred mice and of three strains of inbred mice was studied. To this end, low pathogen (LP) or specific pathogen free (SPF) vivaria in St. Petersburg, Moscow, and Stockholm were used.

Determination of sub-micromolar amounts of sulfide by standard free anodic stripping voltammetry and anodic stripping voltammetric titration.

A novel electrochemical methods namely standard free anodic stripping voltammetry and anodic stripping voltammetric titration are proposed for determination of dissolved sulfide concentration. 2Ag(+) + S(2-) --> Ag(2)S reaction is used to provide the information. The anodic stripping voltammetric response of unreacted silver-ions at the glassy carbon electrode is used as analytical signal.

[The use of physiotherapy and antibacterial preparations in urogenital infections].

Antibacterial antibiotics only, antibiotics in combination with immunostimulators, antibiotics plus immunostimulators plus physiotherapy were administered in 132 patients with urethroprostatitis caused by mixed infection (18, 45 and 69 patients, respectively). A complete recovery was achieved only in patients who had been treated with the antibiotics, immunostimulators and physiotherapy. After antibiotics, residual infection was registered in 11.

[Combined (associated) vaccination against quarantinable infections].

The presence of several active foci of infection of different etiology is an indication for complex (combined) immunization against these diseases. The scheme of complex (combined) immunization against plague, cholera and yellow fever has been experimentally substantiated and successfully tested on volunteers.

[Combined (associated) immunization against typhoid, typhus and plague].

The article substantiates epidemiological expediency of complex (associated) immunization of servicemen and population against typhoid, typhus and plague in polyetiological zones of these infections, and also in cases of simultaneous proliferation of these diseases. For simultaneous preventive vaccination against these infections a complex immunization scheme was experimentally substantiated and clinically approved. It is based on national commercial vaccines and ensures a simultaneous administration of 2-3 vaccine preparations by hypodermic syringe or jet injection.

[A system for the mass combined vaccination of the adult population against influenza, viral hepatitis, typhoid, meningitis and diphtheria].

A safe, moderately reactogenic and immunologically effective scheme of complex (combined) immunization against meningitis A, diphtheria, typhoid fever, viral hepatitis A and influenza has been developed as the result of experimental and clinico-immunological studies. Depending on the epidemiological situation, the newly developed scheme can be used in two variants. According to the first variant of this scheme, the following preparations are injected subcutaneously into three different sites: a mixture of group A meningococcal vaccine and diphtheria toxoid, typhoid vaccine and influenza vaccine.

[The clinico-immunological validation of associated immunization].

Clinico-immunological studies on men were conducted using associated immunization by pair combinations of 8 commercial national vaccines (typhoid, plague, typhus, smallpox, tick-borne encephalitis, yellow-fever, cholera and sextaanatoxine). As for reactogenicity and immunological efficiency (serological studies), these pair associations can be subdivided into three main groups. The first group consists of pair combinations of vaccines that cannot exert any influence on immunogenicity of cause the development of frequent post-vaccination reaction or temporary disability (typhus, smallpox, tick-borne encephalitis, yellow-fever vaccines).

[The trypanocidal action of fluorouracil on Crithidia oncopelti in the presence of lipid metabolic modifiers].

Effect of fluorouracil in combination with ascorbate and L-valin, modifiers of lipid metabolism was studied in cultured protozoa Crithidia oncopelti. The inhibitory effect of preparation in a concentration of 100 mcg/ml gradually decreased in the course of cultivation. Its readdition to a 96-hour culture did not increase its effect on protozoa cells.

[The experimental validation of associated immunization with paired combinations of vaccines].

Experimental researches were conducted on reactogenicity and immunological efficiency of pair associations of 8 commercial drug preparations. The following vaccines were used in various pair combinations: typhoid, plague, smallpox, typhus, tick-borne encephalitis, yellow-fever, cholera, sextaanatoxine. Pair combinations of these drug preparations were proved to be harmless.

Sucrose/fatty acid ethers from Astasia longa culture have been studied. Biological activity of different ethers has been studied on calf kidney cells. The activity depends on the lipid component of the ethers.

[Composition and immunological activity of membrane-bound surface glycoprotein from Crithidia oncopelti].

A membrane-bound glycoprotein with a molecular weight of 10000-12000 was isolated from Crithidia oncopelti and purified. The glycoprotein contained peptide, carbohydrate and lipid fragments and phosphorus. The peptide fragment was represented by 10 amino acids.
