Variations in the height of the boundary layer have a critical impact on the vertical transport of near-surface aerosols. Variations can affect the interactions between aerosols and clouds/fog by altering the scattering and absorption of solar radiation, significantly changing radiative forcing, convective precipitation, and regional climate. In this study, we simultaneously monitored air pollution and meteorological factors in a flat urban area (YunTech site, 50 m asl) and its peripheral mountainous region (MeiShan site, 980 m asl), analyzed the characteristics of pollutants under different atmospheric conditions, and explored the differences in the chemical reaction mechanisms of aerosols at various altitudes, aiming to clarify the evolution of the boundary layer in urban and suburban areas and its impact on the transport of pollutants.

Recently, convolutional neural network (CNN) models have been proposed to automate the assessment of breast density, breast cancer detection or risk stratification using single image modality. However, analysis of breast density using multiple mammographic types using clinical data has not been reported in the literature. In this study, we investigate pre-trained EfficientNetB0 deep learning (DL) models for automated assessment of breast density using multiple mammographic types with and without clinical information to improve reliability and versatility of reporting.

Purpose: To develop a computational approach to re-create rarely stored for-processing (raw) digital mammograms from routinely stored for-presentation (processed) mammograms.

Materials And Methods: In this retrospective study, pairs of raw and processed mammograms collected in 884 women (mean age, 57 years ± 10 [standard deviation]; 3713 mammograms) from October 5, 2017, to August 1, 2018, were examined. Mammograms were split 3088 for training and 625 for testing.

Purpose: The purposes of this study were to assess the levels of symptom distress, body image, and epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitors (EGFRI)-associated health-related quality of life (QoL); identify the factors related to EGFRI-associated health-related QoL; and examine the differences in EGFRI-associated health-related QoL by grade of skin toxicity in mCRC patients receiving target therapy.

Methods: This cross-sectional study examined mCRC patients who received cetuximab-based target therapy from the oncology and CRC inpatient and outpatient departments of a medical center in northern Taiwan. Structured questionnaires were used to measure patients' symptom distress, body image, and EGFRI-associated health-related QoL.

Critically ill patients experience severe stress, inflammation and clinical conditions which may increase the utilization and metabolic turnover of vitamin B-6 and may further increase their oxidative stress and compromise their antioxidant capacity. This study was conducted to examine the relationship between vitamin B-6 status (plasma and erythrocyte PLP) oxidative stress, and antioxidant capacities in critically ill surgical patients. This study examined the hypothesis that different inorganic carbon (IC) conditions enrich different ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (AOB) and nitrite-oxidizing bacteria (NOB) populations by operating two laboratory-scale continuous-flow bioreactors fed with 15 and 100 mg IC/L, respectively. During this study, both bioreactors maintained satisfactory nitrification performance and stably oxidized 250 mg N/L of influent ammonium without nitrite accumulation. Based on results of cloning/sequencing and terminal restriction fragment length polymorphism targeting on the ammonia monooxygenase subunit A (amoA) gene, Nitrosomonas nitrosa lineage was identified as the dominant AOB population in the high-IC bioreactor, while Nitrosomonas europaea and Nitrosomonas nitrosa lineage AOB were dominant in the low-IC bioreactor.
