With the rapid advancement of information technology, the need to achieve ultra-high-density data storage has become a pressing necessity. This study synthesized three hyperbranched polyimides (HBPI-TAPP, HBPI-(Zn)TAPP, and HBPI-(Cu)TAPP) by polymerizing 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-aminophenyl)porphyrin (TAPP), which features a cavity for metal ion coordination, with 4,4'-(hexafluoroisopropylidene)diphthalic anhydride (6FDA), to systematically investigate the effect of metal ion species on storage performance. According to the results, memory devices based on HBPI-(Zn)TAPP exhibit volatile SRAM (static random-access memory) characteristics, whereas devices employing HBPI-TAPP and HBPI-(Cu)TAPP demonstrate non-volatile WORM (write-once, read-many) characteristics.

Background: Stroke is one of the most serious illnesses worldwide and is the primary cause of acquired disability among adults. Post-stroke cognitive impairment (PSCI) is a complication of stroke that significantly impacts patients' daily activities and social functions. Therefore, developing a risk prediction model for PSCI is essential for identifying and preventing disease progression.

Purpose: This study investigated the impact of hyperglycemia in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) on the circadian rhythms and function of lacrimal glands (LGs) in contributing to dry eye syndrome. We assessed the effects of hyperglycemia on circadian gene expression, immune cell recruitment, neural activity, and metabolic pathways, and evaluated the effectiveness of insulin in restoring normal LG function.

Methods: Using a T2DM mouse model (db/db mice), circadian transcriptomic changes in LGs were analyzed through RNA sequencing over a 24-hour period.

Metal halide borates are promising candidates for high-performance nonlinear optical (NLO) applications, yet the origins of their second harmonic generation (SHG) properties remain unclear. Using atom response theory combined with density functional theory calculations, this study investigates why halogen substitution leads to distinctly different SHG responses in halide monoborates (PbBOX) versus halide pentaborates (PbBOX). We find that the SHG origins vary between these two families due to differences in the strength of the Pb-X interactions.

Introduction: Selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) are recently emerging as promising anticancer agents because of their high bioavailability, low toxicity and remarkable anticancer activities. However, the application of SeNPs in anticancer has been limited due to instability. Herein, Capsaicin (Cap), a natural active compound found in chili peppers with favorable anticancer activity, was modified with SeNPs to prepare Cap-decorated SeNPs (Cap@SeNPs), and the antiproliferative effect and mechanism of Cap@SeNPs in HepG2 were investigated.

Mechanisms of anion permeation within ion channels and nanopores remain poorly understood. Recent cryo-electron microscopy structures of the human bestrophin 1 Cl channel (hBest1) provide an opportunity to evaluate ion interactions predicted by molecular dynamics (MD) simulations against experimental observations. Here, we implement the fully polarizable force field AMOEBA in MD simulations on different conformations of hBest1.

Background: Sequential CD19 and CD22 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cell therapy offers a promising approach to antigen-loss relapse in relapsed/refractory (R/R) B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL); however, research in adults remains limited.

Methods: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of sequential CD19 and CD22 CAR-T cell therapy in adult patients with R/R B-ALL between November 2020 and November 2023 (ChiCTR2100053871). Key endpoints included the adverse event incidence, overall survival (OS), and leukemia-free survival (LFS).

Harvesting the energy from the interaction between hygroscopic materials and atmospheric water can generate green and clean energy. However, the ion diffusion process of moisture-induced dissociation leads to the disappearance of the ion concentration gradient gradually, and there is still a lack of moisture-based power generation devices with truly continuous operation, especially the duration of the current output still needs to be extended. Here, we propose a design for reconstructing the ion concentration gradient by coupling photocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction with hydrovoltaic effect, to report a moisture-enabled electric generator (MEG) with continuous current output.

Best1 and Best2 are two members of the bestrophin family of anion channels critically involved in the prevention of retinal degeneration and maintenance of intraocular pressure, respectively. Here, we solved glutamate- and γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA)-bound Best2 structures, which delineate an intracellular glutamate binding site and an extracellular GABA binding site on Best2, respectively, identified extracellular GABA as a permeable activator of Best2, and elucidated the co-regulation of Best2 by glutamate, GABA and glutamine synthetase in vivo. We further identified multiple small molecules as activators of the bestrophin channels.

Stroke is the second leading cause of death and the third-leading cause of disability in the world. The skeletal muscles play a key role in disability following stroke. Although many studies have reported the prevalence and risk factors of sarcopenia in patients with stroke, the results have not been synthesized.

Yak (), a special breed of cattle on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, has low fertility due to nutritional deficiency, especially the trace elements. The steroid hormones estradiol (E2) and progesterone (P4) synthesized by yak follicular granulosa cells (BGCs) are involved in the entire reproductive process. In the present study, we investigated the effects of trace elements and vitamins on yak follicular GCs, including the cellular activity, the synthesis of E2 and P4, and the expression of genes related to steroid hormone synthesis.

To investigate the remediation effect of iron-manganese-modified biochar from different biomasses (FM-BC) on Cd-contaminated alkaline soil, FM-BC was prepared using branches of , durian shells, and corn stalks. The characteristics of FM-BC, the adsorption of Cd(Ⅱ) in water, and the available, fraction of Cd in alkaline soil were studied using bath adsorption and soil culture experiments. The results showed that the specific surface area, total pore volume, and oxygen content of FM-BC were significantly improved.

Introduction: The nucleus plays a crucial role in medical diagnosis, and accurate nucleus segmentation is essential for disease assessment. However, existing methods have limitations in handling the diversity of nuclei and differences in staining conditions, restricting their practical application.

Methods: A novel deformable multi-level feature network (DMFNet) is proposed for nucleus segmentation.

The clinical application of most natural antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) is hindered by their lack of a synergistic combination of high antibacterial efficacy, low toxicity, and stability, necessitating frequent complex modifications that incur significant labor and economic costs. Therefore, it is imperative to optimize the antibacterial properties of AMPs using some simplified approach. In this study, we designed a library of β-hairpin AMPs with identical β-turn sequences (-D-Pro-Gly-) and varying repetition units (IR, FR, and WK).

We demonstrate the generation of stable femtosecond vortices from a self-started Kerr-lens mode-locked Yb:YAG thin-disk oscillator. By using a defective mirror inscribed with a fine line, 218-fs Hermite-Gaussian (HG) pulses are delivered directly from the thin-disk oscillator with an average power of 12 W at the repetition rate of 105 MHz and subsequently converted to Laguerre-Gaussian (LG) vortices by a cylindrical-lens mode-converter. The average output power of the Hermite-Gaussian pulses is further improved to 19 W by applying a rectangular aperture.
