Background And Aim: Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory disease driven by immune dysregulation. PANoptosis, a novel form of programmed cell death, has been implicated in inflammatory diseases, but its specific role in UC remains unclear. This study aimed to identify PANoptosis-related genes (PRGs) that may contribute to immune dysregulation in UC.

Methods: Our study used a comprehensive array of authoritative bioinformatics tools, such as TIMER, UCSC Xena, GEO, Human Protein Atlas, UALCAN, CIBERSORTx and others which used to investigate the complex effects of PTOV1 on gene expression profiles, diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers, tumor immunology, signaling pathways, epigenetic alterations, and genetic mutations.
Glucose oxidation via the pentose phosphate pathway serves as the primary cellular mechanism for generating nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH). The central regions of solid tumors typically experience glucose deficiency, emphasizing the need for sustained NADPH production crucial to tumor cell survival. This study highlights the crucial role of RIOK3 in maintaining NADPH production and colorectal cancer (CRC) cell survival during glucose deficiency.

In this study, we aimed to investigate the potential role of hinokitiol in protecting against ethanol-induced gastric injury and elucidate the underlying mechanism. Our results demonstrated that hinokitiol effectively attenuated hemorrhagic gastric lesions, epithelial cell loss, and inflammatory response in mice with ethanol-induced gastric injury.

Three major challenges in achieving a robust osteogenic reaction are the exist of oral inflammation, pathogenic bacteria invasion and unaffluent seed cells. Herein, a customizable and multifunctional 3D-printing module was designed with glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) modified epsilon-poly-L-lysine (EPLGMA) loading periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs) and myeloid-derived suppressive cells membrane vesicles (MDSCs-MV) bioink (EPLGMA/PDLSCs/MDSCs-MVs, abbreviated as EPM) for periodontitis-derived bone defect repair.

Diabetes is a common metabolic disease characterized by an imbalance in blood glucose levels. The pathogenesis of diabetes involves the essential role of cytokines, particularly the IL-12 family cytokines. These cytokines, which have a similar structure, play multiple roles in regulating the immune response.

We aimed at exploring the important effects of TRIM28 on gastric cancer (GC) and uncovering underling molecular mechanisms. Through immunohistochemistry analysis of 20 pairs of GC and the peritumoral tissues, the expression level of TRIM28 was determined.

It has long been used in treating chronic gastritis and its components were traditionally used in dealing with intestinal inflammation. However, its specific pharmacological mechanism is still unclear.

ZNF274, a member of the zinc-finger-protein family of transcription factors, is critical in chromosomal remodelling and tumorigenesis. However, the role of ZNF274 in CRC and the underlying molecular mechanisms remain unclear.

Therefore, focusing on the 76 water tower units of the world, the annual water yield variance was first examined, followed by the contributions of changes in climate, water storage change, and vegetation, as well as their interaction effects on water yield variance; finally, the contribution of water storage change on water yield variance was further decomposed into the effect of changes in groundwater, snow water, and soil water. The results showed that large variability exists in the annual water yield with standard deviations ranging from to 10-368 mm in water towers globally.

Background: To develop a new modality of colorectal cancer screening based on chronic disease management (CDM) to improve the participation rate of screening, and maximize the benefits of limited resources.
Methods: Patients under CDM were assigned to screening intervention group (SI) and screening control group1 (SC1), residents from natural community were assigned to screening control group2 (SC2). A parallel controlled community intervention study was performed.
Orthohantaviruses, members of the Orthohantavirus genus of Hantaviridae family of the Bunyavirales order, are enveloped, negative-sense, single-stranded, tripartite RNA viruses. They are emerging zoonotic pathogens carried by small mammals including rodents, moles, shrews, and bats and are the etiologic agents of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) and hantavirus cardiopulmonary syndrome (HCPS) among humans. With the characteristics of low biological risk but strong operability, a variety of pseudotyped viruses have been constructed as alternatives to authentic orthohantaviruses to help delineate the roles of host factors in viral entry and other virus-host interactions, to assist in deciphering mechanisms of immune response and correlates of protection, to enhance our understanding of viral antigenic property, to characterize viral entry inhibitors, and to be developed as vaccines.

PDLSCs cultured in the osteogenic induction medium for 14 days were analyzed by proteomics and phosphoproteomics. Potential functions of phosphorylated differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) were annotated and enriched based on Gene Ontology (GO).

The hexosamine biosynthetic pathway (HBP) is connected to abnormal N- and O-linked protein glycosylation in cancer, which performs critical roles in tumorigenesis. However, the regulation mechanisms of HBP and its role in colorectal cancer (CRC) progression remain unexplained. This study analyzed the expression level of phosphoglucomutase 3 (PGM3), a key enzyme in HBP, and identified its function in CRC cell lines.

Reperfusion injury is still a major challenge that impedes neuronal survival in ischemic stroke. However, the current clinical treatments are remained on single pathological process, which are due to lack of comprehensive neuroprotective effects. Herein, a macrophage-disguised honeycomb manganese dioxide (MnO ) nanosphere loaded with fingolimod (FTY) is developed to salvage the ischemic penumbra.

A quenched photosensitizer ("off" state) is developed and escorted into a tumor-targeting oxaliplatin-embedded micelle. Once reaching the tumor cell, the micelle is clasped to release free oxaliplatin, as well as the "off" photosensitizer, which is further activated ("turned-on") in the tumor reducing microenvironment to provide optical imaging and photothermal effect.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), consisting of ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease (CD), is a chronic relapsing and life-threatening inflammatory disorder that mainly affect the intestinal tract. The mainstream therapies for moderate to severe IBD lie in the use of immunosuppressive agents. However, it encountered the problem of drug tolerance and significant adverse events.

However, there is no systematic study about whether and how LPA promotes esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Here, we show that autotaxin (ATX), a primary LPA-producing enzyme, is highly expressed in ESCC, and overexpressed ATX is associated with the poor outcome of ESCC patients.

Immunotherapy has gained increasing focus in treating pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), since conventional therapies like chemotherapy could not provide satisfactory improvement in overall survival outcome of PDAC patients. However, it is still not the game changing solution due to the unique tumor microenvironment and low cancer immunogenicity of PDAC. Thus, inducing more intratumoral effector immune cells as well as reversing immunosuppression is the core of PDAC treatment.
