Allergic rhinitis (AR) is a widespread health issue with a rising global prevalence, and sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) has shown efficacy in AR treatment. We examined specific immunoglobulin G4 (sIgG4) expression in AR and its role in evaluating SLIT efficacy and predicting patient prognosis. We compared total nasal symptom score (TNSS), total medication score (TMS), visual analogue scale (VAS) score, inflammatory cytokines, and immune function markers in AR patients before and after SLIT.

Retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) ferroptosis is a significant pathogenetic component in AMD. This study aims to elucidate the role and mechanisms of fatty acid desaturase 1 (FADS1) in ferroptosis as well as AMD progression.

However, the interference between antibiotic transformation products from ammonia oxidation and secondary metabolites in heterotrophic nitrifiers makes antibiotic transformation pathways more complicated. In this work, we observe that the heterotrophic nitrifier Alcaligenes ammonioxydans HO-1 can effectively convert sulfonamide antibiotics.

In this work, we synthesized an independent AIE probe, HNTE, through a one step reaction. The probe HNTE displayed a distinctive fluorescence color change from deep yellow to blue for ClO and to green for Zn.

As the eye's outermost layer, the cornea is highly sensitive to air pollutants like CS. However, the specific mechanisms linking CS exposure to corneal dysfunction have not been fully elucidated.

The fungus Beauveria sp. NBUF147, associated with an Irciniidae sponge from the mesophotic zone at a depth of 82 m, underwent chemical investigation that led to the identification of one new sterol, beautoide A (1), and one reported sterol, 3β,5α,9α-trihydroxy-(22E,24R)-ergosta-7,22-dien-6-one (2).

This study aimed to assess the association between IRS and the malaria burden in Zambia and Vubwi District and to explore the factors associated with refusing IRS.
Methods: A retrospective study was used to analyze the association between IRS and malaria incidence in Zambia in 2001-2020 and in Vubwi District in 2014-2020 by Spearman correlation analysis.
Objective: To describe the lipid metabolic profile of different patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and contribute new evidence on the progression and severity prediction of COVID-19.
Methods: This case-control study was conducted in Peking University Third Hospital, China. The laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 patients aged ≥18 years old and diagnosed as pneumonia from December 2022 to January 2023 were included.
Objectives: To explore epidemiological changes of Japanese encephalitis (JE) in a long-time span and evaluate the impact of mass immunisation.
Method: Data on JE cases from hospitals and the county Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Guizhou Province was collected between 2005 and 2021. Epidemiological changes were analyzed according to a series of policy implementations and the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
Few studies focused on human papillomavirus (HPV) in male patients. This study aimed to explore the detection rate and genotyping of HPV among male patients in Beijing to provide a reference for formulating prevention strategies for HPV infection. The cross-sectional study was conducted in Beijing Chaoyang Hospital from November 2015 to March 2023.

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD), the most common aging-related retinal disease, is prospectively associated with retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) senescence. However, the mechanism of RPE cell senescence remains unknown.

Background: Eisenmenger's syndrome (ES) is a rare complication of congenital heart disease that includes pulmonary artery hypertension and reversed or bidirectional shunts. The mortality rate of pregnant women with ES is 30%-70% due to pathophysiological deterioration. Successful perioperative management of a pregnant patient with ES is a challenge for anesthesiologists.

Müller glial cells extend throughout the retina and play vital roles in maintaining retinal homeostasis. Previous studies have demonstrated that TGR5, a member of the bile acid-activated GPCR family, could ameliorate DR.

Many functions about Smurf1 also are still unknown, especially in retina. This research is about to explore the role of Smurf1 in retina degeneration.

Here, we characterize the role of neuraminidase 1 (NEU1) in unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO) and folic acid (FA)-induced renal fibrosis mouse models. We find that NEU1 is significantly upregulated in the fibrotic kidneys of patients and mice.
