Article Synopsis
  • Flavonoids, particularly 7,8-dihydroxyflavone (7,8-DHF) and 7-hydroxyflavone (7-HF), were studied for their antioxidant properties in RAW264.7 cells subjected to oxidative stress.
  • Using various assays, the study found that 7,8-DHF exhibited stronger antioxidant effects than 7-HF by reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels while enhancing superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity.
  • The mechanisms revealed that 7,8-DHF inhibited cellular damage pathways and boosted protective proteins, indicating its potential as a drug to combat oxidative stress injuries.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Aesculetin (6,7-dihydroxy-2H-1-benzopyran-2-one) has been reported to exhibit potent anti-inflammatory property both in vitro and in vivo.

Aims Of This Study: In this study, we evaluated the anti-inflammatory effect and investigated underlying molecular mechanisms of aesculetin in LPS-induced RAW264.7 macrophages and DSS-induced colitis.
