Aims: To propose a new method for evaluating paediatric radial neck fractures and improve the accuracy of fracture angulation measurement, particularly in younger children, and thereby facilitate planning treatment in this population.

Methods: Clinical data of 117 children with radial neck fractures in our hospital from August 2014 to March 2023 were collected. A total of 50 children (26 males, 24 females, mean age 7.

Three Gram-stain-positive bacterial strains (designated F502-1, F575-4 and F582-1) were isolated from the gut of honeybee (). These strains were characterized using a polyphasic taxonomic approach. Results of 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis indicated that strain F502-1 was phylogenetically related to the type strains of , and , having 98.

Four Gram-stain-positive bacterial strains were isolated from the gut of honeybee () in China. These strains were characterized using a polyphasic taxonomic approach. The data demonstrated that three of the four strains represented two novel species of the genus , strains F306-1 and F551-2 were designated as the type strains.

Nursing homes are the facilities where the elderly conduct their daily activities. This may lead to a complicated acoustic environment which would potentially affect the ability of the elderly to function. In this study, the main indoor public space of a nursing home in Harbin was taken as the research object, and the methods of field observation, sound measurement, and questionnaire survey were used to explore the sound perception and preference of the elderly.

Significant public health emergencies greatly impact the global supply chain system of production and cause severe shortages in personal protective and medical emergency supplies. Thus, rapid manufacturing, scattered distribution, high design degrees of freedom, and the advantages of the low threshold of 3D printing can play important roles in the production of emergency supplies. In order to better realize the efficient distribution of 3D printing emergency supplies, this paper studies the relationship between supply and demand of 3D printing equipment and emergency supplies produced by 3D printing technology after public health emergencies.

Currently, the systems for culturing buffalo spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) are varied, and their effects are still inconclusive. In this study, we compared the effects of culture systems with undefined (foetal bovine serum) and defined (KnockOut Serum Replacement) materials on the culture of buffalo SSC-like cells. Significantly more DDX4- and UCHL1-positive cells (cultured for 2 days at passage 2) were observed in the defined materials culture system than in the undefined materials system ( < 0.

Objective: Asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) feature different inflammatory and cellular profiles in the airways, indicating that the cellular metabolic pathways regulating these disorders are distinct.

Methods: We aimed to compare the serum metabolomic profiles among mild persistent asthmatic patients, individuals with stable COPD, and healthy subjects and to explore the potential metabolic biomarkers and pathways. The serum metabolomic profiles of 17 subjects with mild persistent asthma, 17 subjects with stable COPD, and 15 healthy subjects were determined by an untargeted metabolomic analysis utilizing liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry.

Objectives: To explore the value of shear wave elastography in the diagnosis of cervical disease.

Methods: This work was a retrospective analysis of 246 cases of cervical lesions confirmed by transvaginal conventional ultrasound, shear wave elastography, and a cytologic test. The lesions were divided into 2 groups according to the final pathologic results: a malignant cervical group and a benign cervical group.

Article Synopsis
  • Economically motivated adulteration (EMA) in food, especially meat products, raises significant food safety concerns, as current PCR methods struggle with accurate species detection and can result in false negatives and positives.
  • A new real-time PCR approach using reference primers was developed specifically to quantify pork adulteration in goat meat, achieving high linear correlation (R = 0.9929) for goat content analysis.
  • The method demonstrated high accuracy in simulated samples, with an average recovery rate of 108.74%, indicating its reliability for detecting adulteration.

Hemodialysis (HD) is not the preferred approach for dialysis in patients with hemophilia. HD in such patients can possess a high risk of bleeding from arterio-venous cannulation and hence peritoneal dialysis is the first choice in patients with hemophilia. The bleeding risk can be overcome by the prophylactic administration of factor VIII, which is a very costly solution.

Warming-induced decrease in seasonal snow cover has a great potential to affect soil nitrogen cycle in alpine cold forest ecosystems. In this study, a wooden-shelter method was used to remove the snow accumulation. Soil nitrogen pools and mineralization rates in the snow removal and control plots were measured synchronously in three critical periods (early snow cover, deep snow cover and snow cover melting) in a subalpine spruce forest of western Sichuan, China.

In this paper, we present a class of bio-dots, polyepinephrine (PEP)-based fluorescent organic dots (PEP-FODs) for selective and sensitive detection of Fe(2+), Fe(3+), and Cu(2+). The PEP-FODs were derived from epinephrine via self-polymerization at relatively low temperature down to 60°C with low cytotoxicity and relative long lifetime (7.24ns).

Background: Primary culture of rat osteoblast cells serves as a model in in vitro research of bone metabolism. But most of studies about osteoblast use fetal or newborn rats for cell isolation, including researches about the post-menopausal osteoporosis. This will affect the authenticity and reliability of the results.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of mortality and 5-year survival rate is very low worldwide. Recent studies show that vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-3 (VEGFR-3) signaling pathway contributes to lung cancer progression. So we hypothesize that an oral DNA vaccine that targets VEGFR-3 carried by attenuated Salmonella enterica serovar typhimurium strain SL3261 has impacts on lung cancer progression.
