Low-light images are prevalent in intelligent monitoring and many other applications, with low brightness hindering further processing. Although low-light image enhancement can reduce the influence of such problems, current methods often involve a complex network structure or many iterations, which are not conducive to their efficiency. This paper proposes a Zero-Reference Camera Response Network using a camera response model to achieve efficient enhancement for arbitrary low-light images.

The investigation of soil total nitrogen (STN) holds significant importance in the preservation and sustainability of Earth's ecosystems. The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (QTP), renowned as the world's most expansive plateau and characterized by its exceptionally delicate ecosystem, demands an in-depth exploration of its STN content. In this study, we use a machine learning approach to extrapolate point-scale measured STN stocks to the entire QTP and calculated STN storage from 0 to 2 m.

With the widespread use of smartphones, many people spend much time on smartphones for shopping, learning, socializing, and so on, which can affect an individual's mental health and work performance. Especially, individual perceived conflict at work may increase their social anxiety and thus raise the risk of their smartphone addiction. This study collected data from 577 corporate employees in China through convenience sampling to explain the influence mechanism of work conflict on smartphone addiction and to verify the moderating role of rumination.

Under low-illumination conditions, the quality of the images collected by the sensor is significantly impacted, and the images have visual problems such as noise, artifacts, and brightness reduction. Therefore, this paper proposes an effective network based on Retinex for low-illumination image enhancement. Inspired by Retinex theory, images are decomposed into two parts in the decomposition network, and sent to the sub-network for processing.

With 40% efficiency under room light intensity, perovskite solar cells (PSCs) will be promising power supplies for low-light applications, particularly for Internet of Things (IoT) devices and indoor electronics, shall they become commercialized. Herein, β-alaninamide hydrochloride (AHC) is utilized to spontaneously form a layer of 2D perovskite nucleation seeds for improved film uniformity, crystallization quality, and solar cell performance. It is found that the AHC addition indeed improves film quality as demonstrated by better uniformity, lower trap density, smaller lattice stress, and, as a result, a 10-fold increase in charge carrier lifetime.

Body temperature serves as the principal factor in thermal perception determination. Current thermal comfort researches mainly focused on skin temperature, while other kinds of body temperatures were often ignored. In laboratory with strictly controlled environment, 26 subjects (13 males and 13 females) remained seated for a duration of 130 min in two thermal environments (19 °C and 35 °C), arranged in a particular order; four kinds of body temperatures (skin temperature, oral temperature, auditory canal temperature and breath temperature) and three kinds of thermal perception votes (thermal sensation, thermal comfort and thermal acceptable) were regularly collected.

With declining birth rates, and decreasing family sizes being witnessed around the world, helicopter parenting-characterized by high warmth, high control, and low empowerment-is becoming increasingly common among parents. Parenting styles exert long-term effects on individuals' cognition and behavior, not only in early childhood, but also in adulthood: therefore, within this context, this study explored the underlying influence mechanism of helicopter parenting style on interpersonal conflict, through a survey of 505 Chinese college students. Using multiwave data, our analysis uncovered the mediating roles of psychological entitlement and fear of missing out, as well as the moderating role of a competitive climate.

The Auriculariaceae accounts for most of the species in the Auriculariales, and all species in the family are wood-decaying fungi with gelatinous, crustaceous, or woody basidiomes. Many new taxa were published recently, but the taxonomy and phylogeny of the corticioid species in the Auriculariaceae are far from resolved. We undertook a comprehensive taxonomic and phylogenetic study of the family with emphasis on corticioid specimens collected from East and Southeast Asia.

Surface-defect-triggered non-radiative charge recombination and poor stability have become the main roadblock to continued improvement in inorganic perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Herein, the main culprits are identified on the inorganic perovskite surface by first-principles calculations, and to purposefully design a brand-new passivator, Boc-S-4-methoxy-benzyl-l-cysteine (BMBC), whose multiple Lewis-based functional groups (NH, S and CO) to suppress halide vacancies and coordinate with undercoordinated Pb through typical Lewis baseacid reactions. The tailored electron-donating methoxyl group (CH O-) can cause an increased electron density on the benzene ring, which strengthens the interaction with undercoordinated Pb via electrostatic interactions.

Overexpression of Staphylococcus aureus efflux pumps is commonly associated with antibiotic resistance, causing conventional antibiotics to be unsuccessful in combating multidrug-resistant bacterial infections. Reducing the activity of the efflux pump is an urgently required to tackle this problem. Here, we found that plantaricin A (PlnA), an antimicrobial peptide derived from Lactobacillus plantarum, had a synergistic effect with ciprofloxacin (CIP), reducing the IC of CIP by eight times.

A partitionable adaptive multilayer diffractive optical neural network is constructed to address setup issues in multilayer diffractive optical neural network systems and the difficulty of flexibly changing the number of layers and input data size. When the diffractive devices are partitioned properly, a multilayer diffractive optical neural network can be constructed quickly and flexibly without readjusting the optical path, and the number of optical devices, which increases linearly with the number of network layers, can be avoided while preventing the energy loss during propagation where the beam energy decays exponentially with the number of layers. This architecture can be extended to construct distinct optical neural networks for different diffraction devices in various spectral bands.
