Article Synopsis
  • This study explores how work conditions during the COVID-19 pandemic negatively impacted the mental health of nurses and how organizational strategies might help reduce these effects.
  • A survey of 1499 Taiwanese nurses identified increased working hours, redeployment, and occupational stigma as contributors to burnout, depression, and intention to leave their jobs, while caring for COVID-19 patients had a different impact on depression.
  • The findings suggest that addressing organizational factors like compensation and providing adequate protective equipment can help protect nurses' mental health during such crises.
