Designing equipment to allow high-level pararowing for a person with bilateral transfemoral amputation: A case report.

Rowing requires both the upper and lower body to be active for balance, steering, and propulsion, constituting a real challenge for athletes with disabilities. To our knowledge, adapted setups allowing pararowing for people with bilateral transfemoral amputation have not yet been described. This case report describes the adapted setup for Mr S, 24 years old, who underwent bilateral transfemoral amputation in 2019 after a motorcycle accident.

Synoptic report: Interests of structured standardized operative report in renal surgery.

The synoptic operative report (SOR) is a model with several advantages but still not enough adopted. We studied the performance of a SOR template (FileMaker Pro®, FMP) versus the usual narrative operative report (NOR) template on DxCare® software (DXC) of the urology department at the Georges-Pompidou European Hospital by comparing the number of completed data, the completeness rate, the writing time, and the writing speed and by analyzing the learning curve. Over an 11-week period between March and June 2021, 118 case-control OR for 59 laparoscopic or open, partial or total nephrectomy procedures, for all indications were prospectively created.

Prostate cancer and solid organ transplantation: patient management and outcomes.

Objective: To analyse the management and outcomes of individuals diagnosed with prostate cancer either before or after organ transplantation, as the impact of organ transplantation and associated immunosuppression on the incidence, progression, and mortality of prostate cancer remains an area of substantial clinical interest and uncertainty.

Patients And Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of patients from two tertiary care centres who had solid organ transplantation and were diagnosed with prostate cancer before or after organ transplantation. Data collected included demographics and clinical information.

[Metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer and PARP inhibitors: From tumor genomics to new therapeutic combinations].

Castration-resistant metastatic prostate cancer remains lethal and a therapeutic challenge. Current strategies are geared towards the personalization of treatments based on the identification of relevant molecular targets, including genomic alterations involved in tumoral processes. Among these novel targeted therapies, poly-ADP-ribose polymerase inhibitors (PARPi), by blocking the action of enzymes involved in deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) repair, induce the destruction of cells carrying defects in homologous recombination repair, often associated with alterations in genes involved in this mechanism.

Simultaneous liver-kidney transplantation: future perspective.

Background: The aims of this narrative review were (i) to describe the current indications of SLKT, (ii) to report evolution of SLKT activity, (iii) to report the outcomes of SLKT, (iv) to explain the immune-protective effect of liver transplant on kidney transplant, (v) to explain the interest of delay kidney transplantation, using hypothermic machine perfusion (HMP), (vi) to report kidney after liver transplantation (KALT) indications and (vii) to describe the value of the increase in the use of extended criteria donors (ECD) and particular controlled donation after circulatory death (cDCD) transplant, thanks to the development of new organ preservation strategies.

Method: Electronic databases were screened using the keywords "Simultaneous", "Combined", "kidney transplantation" and "liver transplantation". The methodological and clinical heterogeneity of the included studies meant that meta-analysis was inappropriate.

Clinical and pathological characteristics of renal cell carcinomas with MiTF translocation.

Introduction: Microphthalmia Transfactor Family (MiTF) translocation renal cell carcinomas (RCCs) represent a rare subtype of renal cell cancers. They are diagnosed in young patients and have a poor prognosis. The aim of our study was to analyze the clinical and pathological features of patients with MiTF RCC.

Is "Kidney Stone Calculator" efficient in predicting ureteroscopic lithotripsy duration? A holmium:YAG and thulium fiber lasers comparative analysis.

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the ability of Kidney Stone Calculator (KSC), a flexible ureteroscopy surgical planning software, to predict the lithotripsy duration with both holmium:YAG (Ho:YAG) and thulium fiber laser (TFL).

Methods: A multicenter prospective study was conducted from January 2020 to April 2023. Patients with kidney or ureteral stones confirmed at non-contrast computed tomography and treated by flexible ureteroscopy with laser lithotripsy were enrolled.

Many artificial intelligence algorithms have shown promising results in diagnosing clinically significant prostate cancer on MRI. To assess a region-of-interest-based machine-learning algorithm aimed at characterising GG ≥2 prostate cancer on multiparametric MRI.

Young urologists and kidney transplantation training: A survey designed by the French Transplantation Committee of the French Association of Urology (CTAFU) and the French Association of Urologists in training (AFUF).

Objective: In France, kidney transplantations (KT) are mainly performed by urologist. Young urologists and residents are involved in this activity mostly performed in emergency. How do they feel about KT training? Is KT an attractive part of the urologist activity?

Methods: This survey has been designed in the form of a questionnaire by the French Committee of Kidney Transplantation (CTAFU) and the French Association of Urologists in training (AFUF).

WNT-dependent interaction between inflammatory fibroblasts and FOLR2+ macrophages promotes fibrosis in chronic kidney disease.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a public health problem driven by myofibroblast accumulation, leading to interstitial fibrosis. Heterogeneity is a recently recognized characteristic in kidney fibroblasts in CKD, but the role of different populations is still unclear. Here, we characterize a proinflammatory fibroblast population (named CXCL-iFibro), which corresponds to an early state of myofibroblast differentiation in CKD.

Pregnancy outcomes in women with primary Sjögren's syndrome: an analysis of data from the multicentre, prospective, GR2 study.

Background: Adverse pregnancy outcomes in women with primary Sjögren's syndrome have only been evaluated retrospectively using heterogeneous methods and with contradictory results. We aimed to describe adverse pregnancy, delivery, and birth outcome risks in pregnant women with primary Sjögren's syndrome compared with those of a matched general population in France, and to identify factors predictive of disease flares or adverse pregnancy outcomes.

Methods: We conducted a multicentre, prospective, cohort study in France using the GR2 (Groupe de Recherche sur la Grossesse et les Maladies Rares) registry.

Objective: To evaluate whether testicular prosthesis should be fixed.

Methods: Retrospective monocentric study including 169 patients who had implantation of testicular prosthesis between January 2013 and December 2022. Patients answered a telephone questionnaire regarding prosthesis characteristics and satisfaction.

Clinical Reproducibility of the Stone Volume Measurement: A "Kidney Stone Calculator" Study.

Background: An accurate estimation of the stone burden is the key factor for predicting retrograde intra-renal surgical outcomes. Volumetric calculations better stratify stone burden than linear measurements. We developed a free software to assess the stone volume and estimate the lithotrity duration according to 3D-segmented stone volumes, namely the Kidney Stone Calculator (KSC).

Thermoablative Treatment of De Novo Tumor in Kidney Allograft.

Background: The overall cancer risk increases in transplant patients, including in kidney allografts. This study aimed to analyze the outcome of patients with kidney allograft malignant tumors who underwent percutaneous thermal ablation.

Methods: We included 26 renal allograft tumors, including 7 clear-cell renal cell carcinoma (RCCs), 16 papillary RCCs, 1 clear-cell papillary RCC, and 2 tubulocystic RCCs, treated in 19 ablation sessions.

Volumetric and functional outcomes at 1-year between percutaneous-ablation and partial-nephrectomy for T1b renal tumors.

Introduction: Indication for percutaneous-ablation (PA) is gradually expanding to renal tumors T1b (4-7cm). Few data exist on the alteration of renal functional volume (RFV) post-PA. Yet, it is a surrogate marker of post partial-nephrectomy (PN) glomerular filtration rate (GFR) impairment.

Contrast enhancement early after renal malignancy cryoablation: imaging findings associated with benignity.

Objectives: Contrast enhancement by MRI done early after cryoablation for renal malignancies may suggest residual tumor (RT). However, we have observed MRI enhancement within 48 h of cryoablation in patients who had no contrast enhancement 6 weeks later. Our purpose was to identify features of 48-h contrast enhancement in patients without RT.

Impact of newly diagnosed prostate cancer at time of evaluation for renal transplantation.

Systematic screening for prostate cancer is widely recommended in candidates for renal transplant at the time of listing. There are concerns that overdiagnosis of low-risk prostate cancer may result in reducing access to transplant without demonstrated oncological benefits. The objective of the study was to assess the outcome of newly diagnosed prostate cancer in candidates for transplant at the time of listing, and its impact on transplant access and transplant outcomes according to treatment options.

Gemcitabine plus platinum-based chemotherapy in combination with bevacizumab for kidney metastatic collecting duct and medullary carcinomas: Results of a prospective phase II trial (BEVABEL-GETUG/AFU24).

Background: Renal medullary carcinoma (RMC) and collecting duct carcinoma (CDC) are rare entities with a poor outcome. First-line metastatic treatment is based on gemcitabine + platinum chemotherapy (GC) regimen but retrospective data suggest enhanced anti-tumour activity with the addition of bevacizumab. Therefore, we performed a prospective assessment of the safety and efficacy of GC + bevacizumab in metastatic RMC/CDC.
