Fine-needle aspiration (FNA) is a commonly employed method for initial diagnosis and work-up of pulmonary nodules. Utilization of rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE) has the added benefit of allowing for triaging of material as appropriate for ancillary studies including microbiology testing.
