Objectives: To determine the effect of two types of triceps repair techniques on elbow stability and extension strength in the setting of olecranon deficiency using a cadaveric model.

Methods: Eight fresh-frozen cadaveric arms were tested in an elbow motion simulator, which produced active elbow extension by applying physiological loads to the tendons. Computed tomography-based surface models were used to determine cutting planes corresponding to sequential levels of olecranon resection.

Background: The amount of the olecranon that can be removed without substantially affecting the kinematics and stability of the elbow is controversial. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of serial resections of the olecranon on elbow kinematics and stability.

BACKGROUND: In recent years, the use of low molecular weight heparins such as dalteparin has become attractive because of their ease of administration and superiority in preventing venous thromboembolism (VTE) compared with traditional agents. The primary purpose of our study was to evaluate the impact of dalteparin use on blood loss and transfusion rates in patients undergoing primary total joint arthroplasty. We also evaluated the effect of patient sex, releasing the tourniquet in knee arthroplasty and the turnover of house staff.

Background: The vascularized fibular bone graft (VFBG) is one of most common grafts used for free flap transfer. There have been no reports in the literature evaluating the functional outcome of the foot and ankle after a VFBG using validated functional outcome measures.
