BREAST+: An augmented reality interface that speeds up perforator marking for DIEAP flap reconstruction surgery.

Deep inferior epigastric artery perforator flap reconstruction is a common technique for breast reconstruction surgery in cancer patients. Preoperative planning typically depends on radiological reports and 2D images to help surgeons locate abdominal perforator vessels before surgery. Here, BREAST+, an augmented reality interface for the HoloLens 2, designed to facilitate accurate marking of perforator locations on the patients' skin and to seamlessly access relevant clinical data in the operating room is proposed.

A Global View of Pemphigus: Geographical Variations.

Pemphigus, an autoimmune intraepidermal bullous disease group with roughly eight distinct forms, includes pemphigus vulgaris (PV) and pemphigus foliaceus (PF) as its predominant global forms. Despite the increased utilization of global health records and reporting systems, epidemiological data remain limited and poorly categorized. Therefore, this study aimed to conduct a review to track, identify, and characterize cases of PV and PF published and categorized worldwide.

Skin deformation analysis for pre-operative planning of DIEAP flap reconstruction surgery.

Deep inferior epigastric artery perforator (DIEAP) flap reconstruction surgeries can potentially benefit from augmented reality (AR) in the context of surgery planning and outcomes improvement. Although three-dimensional (3D) models help visualize and map the perforators, the anchorage of the models to the patient's body during surgery does not consider eventual skin deformation from the moment of computed tomography angiography (CTA) data acquisition until the position of the patient while in surgery. In this work, we compared the 3D deformation registration from supine arms down (CTA position) to supine with arms at 90° degrees (surgical position), estimating the patient's skin deformation.

Introduction: Augmented reality (AR) has demonstrated a potentially wide range of benefits and educational applications in the virtual health ecosystem. The concept of real-time data acquisition, machine learning-aided processing, and visualization is a foreseen ambition to leverage AR applications in the healthcare sector. This breakthrough with immersive technologies like AR, mixed reality, virtual reality, or extended reality will hopefully initiate a new surgical era: that of the use of the so-called surgical metaverse.

This segmental historical study had as its main objective to register the trajectory of the National Seminars for Directives of Nursing Education (SENADEns) in the ten editions that occurred in various regions of the country from 1994 to 2006. Data sources consisted of official documents of the events, publications of ABEn-Nacional, articles, and theses reports concerning education in nursing. Analyzing the seminars as a whole, we can conclude that the SENADEns represented, and continue to represent, excellent forums for debate of the three levels of nursing education--professional, graduation and post-graduation, thereby progressively legitimizing its leadership in the collective construction of educational policies and directives in the area.

This text aims at supplying elements for reflection on Nursing education, considering the introduction of national curricular guidelines and the need for the creation of political-pedagogical projects in undergraduate programs.
