Not having an intimate partner constitutes a common state in contemporary post-industrial societies. The current research aimed to address the question of whether single people score higher than mated people in various dimensions of quality of life. For this purpose, we employed quantitative research methods, measuring different aspects of quality of life that we treated as the dependent variables, with relationship status as the independent variable.

Methods: Using a sample of 295 Lithuanian-speaking participants, we explored the frequency and types of strategies employed to enhance mate appeal.

- Results indicated that both men and women who sought more independence were more likely to be voluntarily single; this was particularly significant for men, linking a stronger desire for independence with longer periods of being single.
- Although perceived achievement didn't directly affect relationship status, it was associated with fewer years of being single for men and contributed to higher self-esteem and flirting ability, which played a role in relationship dynamics for both genders.
Forming long-term intimate relationships is a human universal, with most people across different times and cultures doing so. Such relationships should be associated with important benefits otherwise individuals would not engage in them, with the current research aiming to identify what people consider as beneficial in a long-term intimate relationship. More specifically, Study 1 employed qualitative research methods in a sample of 221 Greek-speaking participants, and identified 82 perceived benefits.

The influence of personality characteristics on antibiotic use were also evaluated, in order to identify predictors of antibiotic misuse.
Methods: Students were enrolled in the study during the 2020-2021 academic year.
