Discovery of SARS-CoV-2 papain-like protease (PL) inhibitors with efficacy in a murine infection model.

Vaccines and first-generation antiviral therapeutics have provided important protection against COVID-19 caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). However, there remains a need for additional therapeutic options that provide enhanced efficacy and protection against potential viral resistance. The SARS-CoV-2 papain-like protease (PL) is one of the two essential cysteine proteases involved in viral replication.

Ten-Year Cephalometric Comparison of Patients With Cleft Palate who Received Treatment With Active or Passive Pre-surgical Orthopedic Devices.

Background: Pre-surgical orthopedic (PSO) devices can be used in the management of patient with cleft lip/palate (CL/P) to narrow the alveolar gap (AG) prior to lip surgery. There are few studies comparing these 2 devices. The objective of this work was to compare the effects of active and passive PSO devices on facial growth in a single surgeon's cohort of patients with CL/P over a 10-year period.

The frequency of references to decision-making capacity in reports to the NSW Mental Health Review Tribunal did not change after legislative reforms that promoted them.

Objective: To assess the impact of a 2015 reform to the (NSW) () that was interpreted as requiring a reference to decision-making capacity (DMC) in reports to the NSW Mental Health Review Tribunal (MHRT).

Method: A sample of reports to the MHRT were audited for references to the 's treatment criteria and DMC in periods before and after the reforms, and the frequency of references between the two periods was compared.

Results: The frequency of references to DMC did not change significantly after the reforms.

Bond strength of 4 orthodontic adhesives used with a caries-protective resin sealant.

Introduction: The purpose of this study was to investigate the shear peel bond strength (SPBS) and resin remnant retention after removal of orthodontic brackets bonded with 1 of 4 orthodontic adhesives (Transbond XT [3M/Unitek, Monrovia, Calif], Blugloo [Ormco Corp, Glendora, Calif], Light Bond [Reliance Orthodontic Products, Itasca, Ill], and APC Plus [3M/Unitek]) applied over a filled, resin sealant (ProSeal [Reliance Orthodontic Products]).

Methods: Extracted premolars were first acid etched and then coated with the sealant used as a primer. This was followed by cementation of a stainless steel orthodontic bracket to the buccal surface with 1 of the 4 adhesive systems.

Multidisplinary management of hypodontia in adolescents: case report.

The purpose of this article is to describe a team approach to treatment of hypodontia in adolescent dentition. A case report of hypodontia with a microdontic lateral incisor in a Class I malocclusion illustrates the principles of case management. Multidisciplinary consultation during treatment planning and coordination and appropriate timing of subsequent interdisciplinary dental care enables the clinician to provide the optimum care.
