Creation of a Pharmacy Student Longitudinal Rotation to Expand the Scope of an Antimicrobial Stewardship Program.

Allergy assessments and penicillin skin testing have emerged as a vital intervention for Antimicrobial Stewardship Programs (ASPs). Investment and involvement in such programs by ASPs, however, are often limited due to resources, time, and personnel constraints. Harnessing an underutilized resource, 4th-year advanced pharmacy practice experience (APPE) students, allows for expanded ASP involvement and scope of practice.

High-intensity statin therapy is recommended in patients with clinical atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) or at high risk of ASCVD. Current evidence demonstrates efficacy of high-intensity statin therapy in reducing major adverse cardiovascular events; yet the comparative safety profile between high-intensity statin agents remains unknown. In 2011, when atorvastatin became generic, the Veteran's Health Administration made the formulary switch from rosuvastatin to atorvastatin.

Separating a mixture of egg yolk and egg white using foam fractionation.

A mixture created by blending with a spatula, an egg yolk and an egg white from the same egg can serve as a binary system for testing to see how well foam fractionation can be used to separate two different groups of proteins naturally found together. This mixture of two phases is particularly attractive for such a study because the two phases can be visualized distinctly when in their separated states. It has been shown that air alone at a low flow rate and with little or no water added can effect visually clean separations of egg yolk from egg white, making this a "green" separation process.
