The dosages of colloidal silicon seeds in the seed-induced synthesis of TS-1 zeolites were investigated in detail. The characterization results revealed that the colloidal silicon seeds not only reduced the particle sizes but also promoted the incorporation of titanium atoms into the framework of TS-1 zeolites as prepared. SEM images and particle size distribution (PSD) confirmed that the particle sizes of TS-1 zeolite could be effectively reduced to about 150 nm.

Titanium silicon molecular zeolite (TS-1) plays an important role in catalytic reactions due to its unique nanostructure. The straight channel on TS-1 was parallel to the orientation of the short b-axis and directly exposed to the aperture of the 10-member ring with a diameter of 0.54 nm × 0.

Hydrothermal synthesis is a typical method for the preparation of TS-1. In the current study, agitation was introduced during the crystallisation stage, and nano-sized TS-1 with little anatase TiO was successfully synthesised in a short time (1-8 h). Furthermore, under rotational crystallisation conditions, a series of TS-1 samples was prepared with different crystallisation times, and the products obtained were investigated as catalysts for the oxidative desulfurisation of thiophene from a model fuel.

A novel amorphous FeOOH modified BiVO photocatalyst (A-FeOOH/BiVO) was successfully produced and characterized by various techniques. The results showed that amorphous FeOOH with about 2 nm thickness evenly covered on BiVO surface, which caused resultant A-FeOOH/BiVO exhibiting higher visible light photocatalytic performance for producing O from water than BiVO. When the covered amount of amorphous FeOOH was 8%, the resultant photocatalyst possessed the best photocatalytic performance.
