Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess how clinical pharmacist-led interventions impacted the transition from intravenous (IV) to oral (PO) antibiotics for hospitalized patients with infectious diseases.
  • Researchers evaluated data from two periods: before the intervention (January to June 2021) and during the intervention (January to June 2022), focusing on patient characteristics and treatment outcomes.
  • Results showed a significant increase in the switch rate from IV to PO antibiotics (44.4% to 67.8%) and appropriate conversions (43.8% to 67.5%), indicating that pharmacist involvement improved the transition process without affecting the length of hospital stays or treatment outcomes.

Multiple stressors linked to anthropogenic activities can influence how organisms adapt and evolve. So far, a consensus on how multiple stressors drive adaptive trajectories in natural populations has not been reached. Some meta-analysis reports show predominance of additive effects of stressors on ecological endpoints (e.

IgA nephropathy is one of the leading causes of chronic kidney disease in Japan. Since the origin and mechanisms by which IgA nephropathy develops currently remain unclear, a confirmed disease diagnosis is currently only possible by highly invasive renal biopsy. With the background of the salivary microbiome as a rich source of biomarkers for systemic diseases, we herein primarily aimed to investigate the salivary microbiome as a tool for the non-invasive diagnosis of IgA nephropathy.

The herbal medicine berberine (BBR) has been recently shown to be an AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) productive activator with various properties that induce anti-inflammatory responses. We investigated the effects of BBR on the mechanisms of mucosal CD4T cell activation in vitro and on the inflammatory responses in T cell transfer mouse models of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). We examined the favorable effects of BBR in vitro, using lamina propria (LP) CD4 T cells in T cell transfer IBD models in which SCID mice had been injected with CD4CD45RB T cells.
