Knowledge, attitude and practice on fall risk factors and prevention among rural older community-dwellers in Vietnam.

Falls among the elderly are an important global health problem. This study assesses knowledge regarding risk factors of falls, as well as attitudes and practices towards fall prevention among older adults in the rural community. A cross-sectional study was performed in four rural communes in Thai Binh province, Vietnam.

Two siblings with non-classic P450scc deficiency resulted from a novel mutation in gene misdiagnosed as familial glucocorticoid deficiency.

P450scc deficiency due to gene mutations is a rare cause of primary adrenal insufficiency (PAI) in children. We reported two young siblings with PAI presented with hyperpigmentation. They were referred to our clinic with a diagnosis of familial glucocorticoid deficiency (FGD), another rare cause of PAI.

Baseline Demographics and Severity and Burden of Atopic Dermatitis in Adult Patients Initiating Dupilumab Treatment in a Real-World Registry (PROSE).

Introduction: Dupilumab was initially approved in 2017 as the first biologic therapy for atopic dermatitis (AD). We characterized adults with AD initiating dupilumab in a real-world setting in the USA/Canada.

Methods: PROSE is an ongoing, longitudinal, prospective, observational, multicenter registry of patients with AD initiating dupilumab per country-specific prescribing information.

Screening for Psychological Distress in Vietnamese Cancer Patients: An Evaluation of the Distress Thermometer.

Background: Psychological distress is prevalent in patients with cancer, negatively affecting their treatment and quality of life. Clinical guidelines recommended screening all cancer patients routinely for psychological problems using simple measures such as the Distress Thermometer (DT) and Problem List (PL). This study is the first research in Vietnam to identify the optimal DT cutoff point to screen distress and the relationship with PL items among cancer patients.

Intrinsic defect formation and the effect of transition metal doping on transport properties in a ductile thermoelectric material α-AgS: a first-principles study.

In this paper, the electronic structure and transport properties of a ductile thermoelectric material α-Ag2S are examined using first-principles calculations combined with the Boltzmann transport equation within a constant relaxation-time approximation. The use of the exchange-correlation functional SCAN + rVV10 successfully describes the geometric and electronic structure of α-Ag2S with a direct bandgap value of 0.99 eV, which is consistent with the previous experimental observations.

Two novel mutations in the gene leading to classic Bartter syndrome presenting as syncope and hypertension in a 13-year-old boy.

Classic Bartter syndrome is a rare condition caused by mutations in the gene and characterised by metabolic alkalosis, hypokalaemia, hyper-reninaemia and hyperaldosteronism. Early signs and symptoms usually occur before a child's sixth birthday and include polyuria and developmental delay. We treated a 13-year-old Vietnamese boy with this syndrome presenting with atypical presentations including syncope and hypertension, but normal growth and development.

Fear of Falling among Older Patients Admitted to Hospital after Falls in Vietnam: Prevalence, Associated Factors and Correlation with Impaired Health-Related Quality of Life.

Fear of falling (FOF) diminishes older people's independence in daily activities, as well as causes serious health and economic consequences. This study examined the prevalence of FOF in older patients hospitalized due to fall-injuries, its effect on health-related quality of life (HRQOL), and its associated factors. We conducted a cross-sectional study in seven hospitals in Thai Binh, Vietnam.

Application of St Gallen Categories in Predicting Survival for Patients With Breast Cancer in Vietnam.

Breast cancer is a heterogeneous disease with different tumor subtypes. Identifying risk categories will help make better treatment decisions. Hence, this study aimed to predict the survival outcomes of invasive breast cancer in Vietnam, using St Gallen 2007 classification.

Nitric oxide adsorption effects on metal phthalocyanines.

The adsorption of nitric oxide (NO) on various metal phthalocyanines (MPc, M = Mn, Fe, Co) has been studied using first-principles calculations based on density functional theory (DFT). In this study, we investigated the fully optimized geometries and electronic structure of MPc. We found that the electronic structures of metal atoms are essential in shaping the ground-state electronic structure near the Fermi level.
