Article Synopsis
  • Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive brain disorder characterized by memory impairment and cognitive decline, with tau protein being a key factor in its development.
  • A meta-analysis evaluated the relationship between obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and levels of circulating tau proteins, using data from seven studies with a total of 539 participants.
  • Results showed significantly higher levels of both total tau (T-tau) and phosphorylated tau (P-tau) in OSA patients compared to controls, indicating a potential link, but further research with larger sample sizes is needed to confirm these findings.
