Objectives: To compare the epidemiology and disease patterns of allergic rhinitis (AR) at 2 different altitudes in children aged 6-7 years, and subsequently to compare with and augment data from international studies.
Materials And Methods: This is a multistage, clustered and stratified random sample study. The study area comprises 2 distinct areas within Yunnan Province, China.
Further evidence is needed to explore the impact of high-altitude environments on the neurologic function of neonates. Non-invasive techniques such as cerebral near-infrared spectroscopy and amplitude-integrated electroencephalography can provide data on cerebral oxygenation and brain electrical activity. This study will conduct multiple cerebral near-infrared spectroscopy and amplitude-integrated electroencephalography monitoring sessions at various time points within the first 3 days postpartum for healthy full-term neonates at different altitudes.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study of children diagnosed with suspected AFBs between July 2019 and June 2020 was conducted. The primary outcome of missed AFBs from radiologic investigations was recorded.
Background: The present study aimed to investigate the P-wave changes in intracavitary electrocardiography (IC-ECG) during catheterization with a peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) in order to provide guidance for the accurate localization of the tip of the PICC.
Methods: A total of 106 newborns who needed a PICC were randomly divided into two groups-a study group and a control group-using a random number table, with 53 cases in each group. In the study group, the ECG monitor was connected after the successful puncture and insertion of the PICC into the right sternoclavicular joint, and the position of the catheter tip was determined according to the P-wave changes on the IC-ECG.
is an opportunistic pathogen, which usually presents multiple antibiotic resistance. Host-directed therapy involves modulating the host defense system and the interplay between innate and adaptive immunity is a new strategy for designing anti-infection drugs. Memantine (MEM), a drug used to treat Alzheimer's disease, has a good inhibitory effect on neonatal mice with -associated bacteremia and meningitis; however, the inhibitory effect and mechanisms of MEM against infection remain unclear.

It is also known as the hearing-pigmentation deficient syndrome. Mutations on SOXl0 gene often lead to congenital deafness and has been shown to play an important role in the pathogenesis of WS.

There are limited number of large cohort studies in an Asian population which demonstrate the diversity of symptoms, investigations which will aid in obtaining the diagnosis, and management. Using this large cohort, we aim to evaluate the type and location, clinical presentations and outcomes of medical management related to pediatric airway FB in an Asian society.

Numerous cancers share ten common traits ("hallmarks") that govern the transformation of normal cells into cancer cells. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are important factors that contribute to tumorigenesis.

Focusing solely on bacteria as the drug targets is a major limitation inherent in the conventional antibiotic therapy. Recently, host-directed therapies have become such an innovative approach to modulate the host defense system and the interplay of innate and adaptive immunity.

Between 10 and 20 mutations in the SRY‑box 10 (SOX10) gene were previously identified to be associated with WS2. The present study aimed to identify the genetic causes of WS2 in a Chinese family.

The World Health Organization reported that there are 32 million children worldwide with hearing loss. In order to investigate genetic mutations in children of 26 nationalities with hearing loss in Yunnan, Sanger sequencing was employed to screen for mutations in four of the most common pathological genes, including gap junction protein β2 and 3, solute carrier family 26 member 4 and mitochondrial DNA.

However, to the best of our knowledge, curcumin has yet to be investigated for the treatment of lumbar intervertebral disc degeneration LIDD). The aim of the present study was to investigate whether curcumin can alleviate LIDD through regulating the expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), cyclooxygenase (COX)‑2, transforming growth factor (TGF)‑β1/2, matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)‑9 and brain‑derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in a rat model of LIDD.

Objective: Waardenburg syndrome is a congenital genetic disorder. It is the most common type of syndromic hearing impairment with highly genetic heterogeneity and proved to be related by 6 genes as follows: PAX3, MITF, SNAI2, EDN3, EDNRB and SOX10. This article aims to identify the genetic causes of a Chinese WS child patient.

Objective: To explore the long-term therapeutic effects of tracheotomy on juvenile onset recurrent respiratory papillomatosis in children.
Methods: Between 1993 and 2007, 86 cases of juvenile onset recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (JRRP) in children were encounted and divided into tracheotomy group and conventional surgery group, the clinical data of these children were retrospectively analyzed.
Results: There were 29 cases in tracheotomy group, the time of carrying tracheal casing pipe was 13 - 66.
