Feline calicivirus (FCV) is one of the most common viral pathogens in domestic cats worldwide, which mainly causes upper respiratory tract infections in felines and seriously threatens the health of felines. Consequently, it is crucial to establish a rapid detection method to efficiently take control and prevent the spread of FCV. To construct the Cas13a-RAA-LFD reaction system, this study specifically designed recombinase-aided amplification (RAA) primers added with a T7 promoter and CRISPR RNA (crRNA), which were both based on the FCV relatively conserved sequence.

As indispensable components of vaccines, adjuvants play a critical role in inducing potent immune responses. In our previous study, we isolated and purified a water-soluble polysaccharide from Poria cocos (PCP), and found that the PCP had the potential to act as an immunostimulant to induce a balanced Th1/Th2 immune response. However, the PCP showed effective immunomodulatory activity only at high concentrations.

Vascular stents have many applications in treating arterial stenosis and other vascular-related diseases. The ideal vascular stent for clinical application should have radial support and axial bending mechanical properties that meet the requirements of vascular deformation coordination. The materials used for vascular stents implanted in the human body should have corresponding biocompatibility to ensure that the stents do not cause coagulation, hemolysis, and other reactions in the blood.

Due to their safety and efficacy, aluminium salts (Alum) are considered the most important adjuvants in human vaccines. However, Alum adjuvants are unable to elicit a cellular immune response, which is vital for the prevention of various chronic infectious diseases and cancers. Herein, we isolated and purified a water-soluble polysaccharide from Chinese yam, named CYP, which was primarily composed of →4)-α-D-Glcp-(1→, →4,6)-α-D-Glcp-(1→, and α-D-Glcp-(1→.

Avian leukemia virus (ALV) is one of the main pathogens of poultry tumor diseases, and has caused significant economic losses to the poultry industry since its discovery. Therefore, establishing a rapid detection method is essential to effectively prevent and control the spread of ALV. In this study, specific CRISPR RNA (crRNA) and recombinase-aided amplification (RAA) primers with T7 promoter were designed based on the relatively conserved sequence of avian leukemia virus.

Defecation care for disabled patients is a major challenge in health management. Traditional post-defecation treatment will bring physical injury and negative emotions to patients, while existing pre-defecation forecasting care methods are physically intrusive. On the basis of exploring the mechanism of defecation intention generation, and based on the characteristic analysis and clinical application of bowel sounds, it is found that the generation of desire to defecate and bowel sounds are correlated to a certain extent.

  • * The experiments showed that the nozzle achieves a range of droplet sizes (52.45 μm to 113.67 μm) and liquid flow rates (142.6 ml/min to 1,607.8 ml/min), making it suitable for low-volume pesticide spraying.
  • * Results indicate better droplet distribution and coverage compared to traditional nozzles, which indicates potential for improved plant protection and reduced pesticide use; however, more research is needed to fully understand the atomization process.

  • - The study investigates the connection between iron metabolism and insulin resistance (IR) in relation to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and its progression to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).
  • - Data from the National Health and Nutritional Examination Survey (NHANES) was analyzed, revealing that higher serum ferritin and total iron-binding capacity (TIBC) are linked to an increased risk of NAFLD and NASH, particularly in participants with IR.
  • - The findings suggest that IR plays a significant role in the relationship between elevated serum ferritin levels and the development of NAFLD and NASH, accounting for a large portion of the risk.

Understanding the shared and divergent mechanisms across antidepressant (AD) classes and probiotics is critical for improving treatment for mood disorders. Here we examine the transcriptomic effects of bupropion (NDRI), desipramine (SNRI), fluoxetine (SSRI) and a probiotic formulation (Lacidofil®) on 10 regions across the mammalian brain. These treatments massively alter gene expression (on average, 2211 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) per region-treatment combination), highlighting the biological complexity of AD and probiotic action.

  • Avian influenza virus (AIV) poses significant economic and health risks, prompting the development of new detection methods using reverse transcription recombinase-aided amplification (RT-RAA).
  • Two methods were established: RT-RAA-LFD and real-time fluorescence RT-RAA (RF-RT-RAA), both showing high sensitivity (10 copies/µL) and specificity for H5, H7, and H9 subtypes, significantly outperforming traditional RT-PCR techniques.
  • The study concluded that these methods are quick, easy to use, and reliable, making them effective tools for the early detection and control of avian influenza, thereby enhancing public health safety.

To address traditional impedance control methods' difficulty with obtaining stable forces during robot-skin contact, a force control based on the Gaussian mixture model/Gaussian mixture regression (GMM/GMR) algorithm fusing different compensation strategies is proposed. The contact relationship between a robot end effector and human skin is established through an impedance control model. To allow the robot to adapt to flexible skin environments, reinforcement learning algorithms and a strategy based on the skin mechanics model compensate for the impedance control strategy.

To rapidly, specifically, and sensitively detect avian influenza virus (AIV), this research established a visual detection method of recombinase-aided amplification (RAA) based on Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats (CRISPR) and CRISPR associated proteins 13a (Cas13a) system. In this study, specific primers and CRISPR RNA (crRNA) were designed according to the conservative sequence of AIV Nucleprotein (NP) gene. RAA technology was used to amplify the target sequence, and the amplification products were visually detected by lateral flow dipstick (LFD).

There are still limitations in artificial bone materials used in clinical practice, such as difficulty in repairing large bone defects, the mismatch between the degradation rate and tissue growth, difficulty in vascularization, an inability to address bone defects of various shapes, and risk of infection. To solve these problems, our group designed stereolithography (SLA) 3D-printed calcium silicate artificial bone improved by a calcium sulfate-Cu delivery system. SLA technology endows the scaffold with a three-dimensional tunnel structure to induce cell migration to the center of the bone defect.

High-performance thermoelectric materials in theoretical and experimental research are mostly composed of expensive, scarce, heavy elements and rarely of single light elements, which severely limit their application and development. Based on density functional and semiclassical Boltzmann transport theory, we determine that a stable phosphorene allotrope, named Tri-Tri phosphorene, has super-high electron mobility (23845.29 cm V s) much higher than those of most two-dimension materials.

The efficiency of communication across workers is a significant factor that affects the performance of federated learning. Though periodic communication strategy is applied to reduce communication rounds in training, the communication cost is still high when the training data distributions are not independently and identically distributed (non-IID) which is common in federated learning. Recently, some works introduce variance reduction to eliminate the effect caused by non-IID data among workers.
