As a kind of high moisture organic solid waste, herbal medicine waste (HMW) is a carbon-neutral resource. This work used the response surface method, the central composite design (CCD), to explore the optimal conditions of the HMW HTC process. Based on the influence of secondary char (SC) on the properties of hydrochar (HC), the formation mechanism of SC was explored by analyzing the physical and chemical properties of HC, primary char (PC) and SC.

The solid products were characterized using XRD, Mössbauer spectroscopy, particle size analyzer and SEM-EDX techniques. The results show that the change in the combustion atmosphere does not significantly alter the main phases of Fe-bearing minerals in the coal ashes, but does affect their relative contents.

The scyphozoan genus Aurelia is one of the main contributors causing jellyfish blooms in global coastal waters. The population and reproduction of polyps are important factors to the outbreak of jellyfish. In this study, the effects of different salinity on the survival and asexual reproduction of Aurelia coerulea polyps were explored, which were cultured at the high (21 ℃) and low temperature (12 ℃), respectively.

The physicochemical properties and combustion behaviors of the torrefied HMW were investigated. Temperature was found to be the most influential factor affecting the torrefaction.

Briefly, Au nanoparticles coated polystyrene (PS) beads were prepared and Quantum dots (QDs) were employed to encode 4 types of the PS beads by different emission wavelength QDs and various intensities. Different coding types of the beads were immobilized with different antibodies on the surface and BSA was used to block the unsatisfied sites.
