RIF1 (RAP1 interacting factor) fulfills diverse roles in DNA double-strand break repair, DNA replication, and nuclear organization. RIF1 is expressed as two splice variants, RIF1-Long (RIF1-L) and RIF1-Short (RIF1-S), from the alternative splicing (AS) of Exon 32 (Ex32) which encodes a 26 aa Ser/Lys-rich cassette peptide in the RIF1 C-terminal domain (CTD). Here we demonstrate that Ex32 inclusion was repressed by DNA damage and oncogenesis but peaked at G/M phase of the cell cycle.

Background: There are no existing practices or methods to ensure cleanliness, sterility, or prevent cross-contamination when it comes to common operating room (OR) tape. Timely and effective antibiotic treatment is vital for sepsis, with increasing incidence of antimicrobial-resistant bacteremia driving interest in rapid phenotypic susceptibility testing. To enable the widespread adoption needed to make an impact, antibiotic susceptibility testing (AST) systems need to be accurate, enable rapid intervention, have a broad antimicrobial menu and be easy to use and affordable. The cAMP response element-binding protein (CREB) is an important regulator of cell growth, metabolism, and synaptic plasticity. CREB is activated through phosphorylation of an evolutionarily conserved Ser residue (S133) within its intrinsically disordered kinase-inducible domain (KID). Neuroblastoma (NBL) accounts for a disproportionate number of deaths among childhood malignancies despite intensive multimodal therapy that includes antibody targeting disialoganglioside GD2, a NBL antigen. Unfortunately, resistance to anti-GD2 immunotherapy is frequent and we aimed to investigate mechanisms of resistance in NBL. Accumulating research has highlighted the effectiveness of culturally tailored HIV/STI interventions for Black women; however, there is a dearth of such interventions for the large number of Black women in CSPs.

The ability to utilize preclinical models to predict the clinical toxicity of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells in solid tumors is tenuous, thereby necessitating the development and evaluation of gated systems. Here we found that murine GD2 CAR-T cells, specific for the tumor-associated antigen GD2, induce fatal neurotoxicity in a costimulatory domain-dependent manner.
