Astragaloside IV inhibits idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis through activation of autophagy by miR-21-mediated PTEN/PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway.

As the main active ingredient of Astragalus, Astragaloside IV (AS-IV) can ameliorate pulmonary fibrosis. In this experiment, we studied how AS-IV reduces idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Bleomycin (BLM) or TGF-β1 was treated in mice or alveolar epithelial cells to mimic IPF in vivo as well as in vitro.
