Ulcerative Colitis or Not? A Case of Dysplasia, Gastrointestinal Bleeding, and Juvenile Polyposis in a 27-Year-Old Man.

Juvenile polyposis syndrome lies within the family of hamartomatous polyposis syndromes characterized by polyps that appear benign but harbor an increased risk of colorectal and gastric cancer. This 27-year-old man with severe ulcerative colitis was discovered to have concomitant juvenile polyposis syndrome during diagnostic workup for gastrointestinal bleeding. The implications of this rare association complicate both diagnostic and treatment modalities since both diseases confer an increased risk of cancer.

Robust odor identification in novel olfactory environments in mice.

Relevant odors signaling food, mates, or predators can be masked by unpredictable mixtures of less relevant background odors. Here, we developed a mouse behavioral paradigm to test the role played by the novelty of the background odors. During the task, mice identified target odors in previously learned background odors and were challenged by catch trials with novel background odors, a task similar to visual CAPTCHA.

TeleInGEstion Remote Video Capsule Endoscope.

We describe 2 cases in which video capsule endoscopy was performed remotely using TeleInGEstion Remote Video Capsule Endoscopy (TIGER VCE), given limited access to endoscopy during the COVID-19 pandemic. The patients ingested the CapsoCam capsule during a televisit, and the video was subsequently reviewed remotely by the physician. TIGER VCE was used to diagnose a benign etiology of melena and used to confirm a diagnosis of Crohn's disease before the initiation of biologic therapy.

Modified technique of closing the port site after multiport thoracoscopic surgery using the shingled suture technique: a single centre experience.

Background: Due to improvements in operative techniques and medical equipment, video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery has become a mainstay of thoracic surgery. Nevertheless, in multiport thoracoscopic surgery, there have been no substantial advances related to the improvement of the esthetics of the site of the chest tube kept for postoperative drainage of intrathoracic fluid and decompression of air leak after thoracoscopic surgery. Leakage of fluid and air around the site of the chest tube can be extremely bothersome to patients.

A Case of Novel Corona Virus With Three Negative Nasopharyngeal Swabbings.

We hereby report a case of a 55-year-old male with fever and difficulty breathing over several days who treated for presumed COVID-19 pneumonia despite testing negative thrice via reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) nasal swab. We explore several possible reasons for serially negative SARS-CoV-2 testing and other potential avenues of diagnosis.
