Variations in disease resistance among pig breeds have been extensively documented, with Sertoli cells (SCs) playing a pivotal role in spermatogenesis. Infections can induce oxidative stress, which can lead to damage to these cells. This study aimed to compare the levels of oxidative stress in SCs from Rongchang and Landrace pig breeds following LPS challenge.

Dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma regulates the levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which are critical for sperm quality. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are non-coding single-stranded RNA molecules encoded by endogenous genes, which regulate post-transcriptional gene expression in animals. At present, it is unknown whether DBD plasma can regulate sperm ROS levels through miRNAs.

Boar sperm quality, as an important indicator of reproductive efficiency, directly affects the efficiency of livestock production. Here, this study was conducted to improve the boar sperm quality by using a non-thermal dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma. Our results showed that DBD plasma exposure at 2.

Magnetic biochar is important for improving the electron transfer capacity (ETC) of microorganisms in wastewater treatment. In this study, three magnetic biochar under different pyrolysis temperatures (300, 500 and 700 °C) were prepared by co-precipitation, and their characteristics and impacts on mediating microbial ETC were investigated. Results indicated that magnetic biochar had a higher capacitance and conductivity than pyrolytic biochar, with the largest specific capacitance of 14.

Anaerobic ammonium oxidation (Anammox) granular sludge (AnGS) has poor strength and is prone to disintegration under complex environmental conditions, especially in the presence of complex organic carbon, which renders the Anammox process instable. Herein, with a mixture of landfill leachate and domestic sewage as wastewater, the effect on the properties of AnGS with two small particle size (0.1-0.

Objective: To investigate the effect of inhibiting factor of cell cycle regulation p27(kip1), retinoblastinoma protein (Rb protein), and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) on the genesis and progression of human pancreatic cancer.

Methods: The expression of p27(kip1), Rb protein and PCNA in the tumor tissue and adjacent tissue of 32 patients with pancreatic cancer was detected by SP immunohistochemical technique.

Results: The p27(kip1) protein positive-expression rate in the tumor tissue of pancreatic cancer was 56.
