Developing green, environmental, sustainable new energy sources is an important problem to be solved in the world. Among the new energy technologies, water splitting system, fuel cell technology and metal-air battery technology are the main energy production and conversion methods, which involve three main electrocatalytic reactions, hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), oxygen evolution reaction (OER), and oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). The efficiency of the electrocatalytic reaction and the power consumption are very dependent on the activity of the electrocatalysts.

In the case of 2D PCs, the specific symmetry of the microscopic lattice arrangement determines its macroscopic optical properties. In addition, beyond this key element of lattice arrangement, the unit cell of PCs is also a critical factor in modulating the far-field optical behaviors.

Methods: Patients who underwent OWHTO for knee osteoarthritis (KOA) from June 2017 to December 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. Baseline data and laboratory test results were collected, and the occurrence of DVT in the immediate postoperative period was regarded as the study outcome event.
TIFYs are plant-specific transcription factors that contain the TIFY structural domain and play an important role in plant leaf growth and development. However, the role played by TIFY in ( Salisb.) leaf development has not been investigated.

Here, organic polarized light-emitting transistors (OPLETs), a kind of novel device that integrates the functions of organic field-effect transistors, organic light-emitting diodes, and polarizers into one unique device, are demonstrated with a degree of polarization (DOP) as high as 0.97, which is comparable to completely linearly polarized light (DOP = 1).

Premotor corticostriatal circuits are implicated in balancing goal-directed and habitual control over actions and show disruption in disorders with compulsive, inflexible behaviors, including AUD. However, whether there is a causal link between disrupted premotor activity and altered action control is unknown.

In this work, aluminum-doped HfO (HfAlO) ferroelectric thin films are deposited on a muscovite substrate (Mica). We investigate the bending effect on the ferroelectric characteristics of the Au/Ti/HfAlO/Pt/Ti/Mica device.

Inactivating HPK1 kinase has been reported to be sufficient to elicit antitumor immune response. Therefore, HPK1 has attracted much attention as a promising target for tumor immunotherapy.

However, how neoplastic transformation occurs in normal NPCs and the role of the Ras/Raf/MAPK pathway in NPC transformation is unclear.

USP29 is a deubiquitinating enzyme important during the development of tumors, neurological diseases, and viral immunity. However, it is unknown how USP29 contributes to hepatic I/R injury.

In vitro and in vivo experiments using PDA/Cu/ICG/R irradiated with an NIR laser demonstrate that when NIR is "OFF," Cu can undergo Fenton-like reaction in tumor cells, producing a large amount of hydroxyl radicals (·OH), which leads to oxidative stress in cells. This oxidative stress can cause mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation dysfunction, resulting in limited ATP synthesis.

However, chemotherapy drugs often harm taste perception in cancer patients, while the underlying mechanism is still unclear for most drugs and there is no effective way to restore taste function. This study investigated the effects of cisplatin on the taste cell homeostasis and gustatory function.

In this study, the volatile organic solvents (dimethyl carbonate (DMC) and diethyl carbonate (DEC)) in spent electrolyte were recycled through vacuum distillation based on thermodynamic analysis and reused for LIBs. The recovery efficiencies of DMC and DEC reach almost 100% and 79.

Main protease (M) has been validated as an effective anti-COVID-19 drug target. Using medicinal chemistry and rational drug design strategies, we identified a quinazolin-4-one series of nonpeptidic, noncovalent SARS-CoV-2 M inhibitors based on baicalein, 5,6,7-trihydroxy-2-phenyl-4H-chromen-4-one.

In this work, an efficient and green recycling route for layered double hydroxide based adsorbents is proposed specifically for application as a poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) heat stabilizer without requiring secondary calcination. Conventional magnesium-aluminum hydrotalcite was synthesized using the hydrothermal method followed by removal of carbonate anion (CO) between LDH layers by calcination.

This study aimed to assess the association between preoperative nutritional status evaluated by the Controlling Nutritional Status (CONUT) score and walking independence at 180 days postoperatively in Chinese older hip fracture patients.
Methods: This prospective cohort study included 1958 eligible cases from the SSIOS database.
Discovery of small-molecule inhibitors against programmed cell death-1 (PD-1)/programmed cell death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) axis provides a promising alternative to overcome the inevitable defects of PD-1/PD-L1 monoclonal antibodies (mAbs). Here, we report a series of indanes as novel small-molecule inhibitors of PD-1/PD-L1 interaction. Thirty-one indanes were synthesized and the structure-activity relationships (SARs) demonstrated that conformational restriction with (S)-indane is superior in potency to inhibit the interaction of PD-1 and PD-L1.

Legumes are considered as "pioneer crops" in degraded or contaminated soils because they can fix nitrogen through symbiotic relationships with rhizobacteria, which promotes soil fertility. However, little is known about the abilities of legumes to contribute to the health of soil contaminated with cadmium (Cd).

Inspired by the principles of information transmission, which allow signals to be reliably transmitted over "noisy" channels, we developed a "matter-transport" framework that demonstrates that noninertial locomotion can be provably generated over noisy rugose landscapes (heterogeneities on the scale of locomotor dimensions). Experiments confirm that sufficient spatial redundancy in the form of serially connected legged robots leads to reliable transport on such terrain without requiring sensing and control.

These unique characteristics largely depend on the stem cell micro-environment, the so-called stem cell niche. Niches were identified for most adult stem cells studied so far, but we know surprisingly little about how somatic stem cells and their niche come together during organ formation.
