Introduction: Tai Chi standing meditation (Zhan Zhuang, also called pile standing) is characterized by meditation, deep breathing, and mental focus based on theories of traditional Chinese medicine. The purpose of the present study was to explore prefrontal cortical hemodynamics and the functional network organization associated with Tai Chi standing meditation by using functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS).
Methods: Twenty-four channel fNIRS signals were recorded from 24 male Tai Chi Quan practitioners (54.

Brisk walking is a highly recommended physical activity for healthy community-dwelling older adults. The objective of this study was to examine through principal component analysis (PCA) how muscle coordination differs between older women and men during brisk walking. Thirty-five healthy older adults (65.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of acute virtual reality (VR) enhanced physical exercise on cue-induced cravings in MA-dependent individuals.
Methods: Thirty MA-dependent individuals performed a drug-cue reactivity task both before and after a 10 min VR-enhanced competitive cycling exercise.
Twelve tetrahydrofuran lignans (1-12), including six new compounds (1-6), were isolated from the 70% EtOH extract of the fruits of Leonurus japonicus. Spectroscopic analyses and ECD and OR calculations were used to determine their structures. Compounds 5 and 6 were unusual alkaloidal lignans with a butyrolactam unit.

Danshen, the dried root of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge (Lamiaceae), is one of the traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs) most commonly used for the treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. However, little is known about the chemical and metabolic profiles of danshen in vitro or in vivo. In particular, more information is needed in relation to the 50% ethanol extracts usually used in danshen formulations such as Fufang Xueshuantong Capsules and Fufang Danshen tablets.

To optimize the ethanol extraction process for Shenlian formula. On the basis of the pharmacodynamics index for different extraction process routes, the contents of salvianolic acid B, tanshinone ⅡA and berberine, as well as the extraction ratio in different experimental schemes were used as the ethanol extraction examining indexes, and multi-criterion synthesizing grading method was used for data analysis to optimize and verify the ethanol-extraction process conditions in orthogonal experiment. The optimum ethanol extraction process was as follows: adding 60% ethanol, 10 times amount, extracting for 2.

Consequently, how to make full use of this pathway in practical applications has become a focus of drug design. However, many aspects affecting drug delivery from the nose to the brain remain unclear.

Background And Objective: Fufang Danshen formula, a famous Chinese patent medicine containing Salvia miltiorrhiza, Panax notoginseng and borneol, has been widely used in the treatment of coronary heart disease. The application is restricted by low bioavailability partly due to Panax notoginseng saponins (PNS) instability and low in vivo absorption. Thus, adhesive pellets were developed to improve bioavailability.

The objective of this research is to characterize puerarin transport across a Calu-3 cell monolayer used as a model of the nasal mucosa and to evaluate the influence of puerarin in combination with paeoniflorin and menthol to explore the enhanced mechanism of the permeability at the cell level. The apparent permeability coefficients (P app) of puerarin bidirectional transport were both <1.

Quality survey of different species of Clematidis Radix et Rhizoma was made by determining the content of hederagenin and oleanolic acid from Clematidis Radix et Rhizoma. The result showed that only a few samples of Clematis chinensis met the quality standard for Clematidis Radix et Rhizoma in Chinese Pharmacopoeia 2010 Edition.

Objective: To study the clinical characteristics and the treatment of periorbital injuries.
Methods: 61 cases were treated, including 30 cases orbitozygomatic fracture, 6 cases of frontal-orbital fracture, 8 cases of naso-ethmoid-orbital fracture, 7 cases of blow -out fracture and 10 cases of complicated fracture. The patients were diagnosed after physical examination and other examination, like CT.
Objective: To explore the methods and effects of repair of occipital and nuchal wounds with inferior trapezius myocutaneous flap after deep electrical bum.
Methods: Twelve patients with high-voltage electrical burn in occipital and nuchal regions were hospitalized to our ward from March 2003 to September 2007. They were repaired with improved inferior trapezius myocutaneous flaps after debridement.

Objective: To observe the changes of human leukocyte antigen DR (HLA-DR) expression in monocytes of trauma patients and its value of prediction on infection complications.
Methods: Fifty-four trauma patients were divided into three groups according to severity of injury: severe trauma group injury severity score (ISS) >or=25, moderate trauma group (16
Objective: To study the effect of decoy-oligodeoxynucleotides (decoy-ODNs) in dumbbell shape with the oligodeoxynucleotide sequence similar to nuclear factor kappa B (NF-kappaB) cis-elements on expression of inflammation mediators in pMPhi cells from rats.
Methods: With carriers of cationic liposomes, decoy-ODNs were transfected into pMPhi cells of rats. Then the inhibiting effects of the decoy-ODNs on tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFalpha), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and IL-10 were analyzed.
Objective: To investigate the effect of activator protein-1 (AP-1) decoy-oligodeoxynucleotides (Decoy-ODNs) on the expression of fibroblast alpha2 type I collagen, so as to explore the gene therapy of pathologic scar.
Methods: Decoy-ODNs targeting AP-1 were designed and synthesized. NIH3T3 cells were transfected by cationic liposomes.
