Gram-negative bacteria infections in diabetic wounds are complicated to control, leading to amputation and even death in severe cases. There is an urgent need to develop effective therapeutic strategies. In recent years, electrospinning has attracted much attention due to its resemblance to extracellular matrix (ECM), which can regulate local cellular proliferation, migration, differentiation, etc.

In this study, we explored the role of fibronectin type III domain containing 5 (FNDC5)/Irisin in mitigating hyperglycemia-induced neurotoxicity in HT22 cells and investigated the underlying mechanisms. Our findings reveal that high glucose conditions are neurotoxic, leading to reduced viability of HT22 cells and increased apoptosis.

Background: Sarcopenia, the age-related loss of muscle mass and function, brings multiple adverse outcomes including disability and death. Several sarcopenia consensuses have newly introduced the premorbid concept of possible sarcopenia and recommended early lifestyle interventions. Bidirectional transitions of premorbid states have been revealed in several chronic diseases yet not clarified in sarcopenia.

We aimed to explore the vaccination status, factors associated with vaccine hesitancy, and adverse effects after vaccination among post-stroke patients.
Methods: This multi-center observational study enrolled hospitalized post-stroke patients from six Chinese hospitals (Oct 1, 2020 - Mar 31, 2021), examining vaccine uptake and self-reported reasons for vaccine hesitancy, utilizing logistic regression to investigate risk factors for vaccine hesitancy, and recording any adverse reactions post-vaccination.

Uncontrolled hemorrhage results in various complications and is currently the leading cause of death in the general population. Traditional hemostatic methods have drawbacks that may lead to ineffective hemostasis and even the risk of secondary injury. Therefore, there is an urgent need for more effective hemostatic techniques.

MMU-G were synthesized under acid (pH = 5) conditions. After the 120-day storage period, the MMU-G resins were used for plywood production, which exhibited a wet shear strength of about 2.

Common treatment methods include total hip arthroplasty, bipolar hemiarthroplasty, double-screw fixation, multiple-screw fixation, and dynamic hip system.
Methods: We searched through four electronic databases, including PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and Embase databases, for articles regarding femoral neck fractures, bone screw, and hip prosthesis published up to February 11, 2020.
Background: Trigger finger at the wrist, which occurs with finger movement, is an uncommon presentation. Few reports describing cases of trigger finger at the wrist have been published. Thus, we present a case of an intramuscular lipoma arising from an anomalous flexor digitorum muscle belly in a 48-year-old female patient causing painful finger triggering at the wrist and carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS).

However it is a challenge to construct 3D-hierarchical structures with sub 5 nm primary grain particle, which is the optimized size for ethanol sensor. Herein, genetic tri-level hierarchical SnOmicrostructures are synthesised by the genetic conversion of 3D hierarchical SnSflowers assembled by ultrathin nanosheets.

Background: Calcaneal fractures are the most common tarsal bone fracture, and are often accompanied by heel pain, local swelling, tenderness, and inability to walk or stand. Surgical intervention results in better reconstruction of the calcaneal anatomy and reduces future complications; however, the optimal incision approach is still controversial. The incision is exposed better with extensile lateral approach (ELA), while the sinus tarsi approach (STA) causes fewer complications.

This study compared the outcomes of free medial plantar artery flap (MPAF) and dorsal digital-metacarpal flap (DDMF) in finger reconstruction.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study included 24 patients with soft-tissue defects on the volar surface of the finger from March 2014 to March 2017.

Background: Calcaneal fractures are a prevalent form of injury caused by high-energy trauma. This study aimed at investigating whether bone graft and non-bone graft are essential for the internal fixation of calcaneal fractures. A meta-analysis of relevant clinical studies evaluated radiographic parameters, functional outcomes, and complications that offer practical recommendations on the suitability of bone grafts for the management of Calcaneal fractures.

Sequence-specific RNA-Binding Protein CPEB3 has distinctive isoform-distinct biochemical interactions and neuronal development assembly roles. Nonetheless, the mechanisms moderating splice isoform options remain unclear.

The injury to the spinal cord is among the most complex fields of medical development. Spinal cord injury (SCI) leads to acute loss of motor and sensory function beneath the injury level and is linked to a dismal prognosis. Currently, while a strategy that could heal the injured spinal cord remains unforeseen, the latest advancements in polymer-mediated approaches demonstrate promising treatment forms to remyelinate or regenerate the axons and to integrate new neural cells in the SCI.

However, the low Na diffusion of NTP/C composite materials from inhomogeneous carbon mixing or uncontrollable carbon coating cannot keep up with fast electron transfer, leading to undesirable electrochemical performances. Herein, a uniform and controllable carbon layer is designed on the self-supported-coated NTP nanorod arrays with binder-free (NTP@C NR) to improve Na and electron kinetics simultaneously.

The fast modeling of gamma-gamma density well logging is essential for the inversion techniques of formation properties, which is usually carried out jointly with other logging measurements such as electrical logging. It also can help to adjust the initial geological model in real time during geosteering. The Monte Carlo method is the foremost numerical technique to simulate gamma-gamma density logging measurement.

Peripheral nerve injury (PNI) is common and, unlike damage to the central nervous system injured nerves can effectively regenerate depending on the location and severity of injury. Peripheral myelinating glia, Schwann cells (SCs), interact with various cells in and around the injury site and are important for debris elimination, repair, and nerve regeneration. Following PNI, Wallerian degeneration of the distal stump is rapidly initiated by degeneration of damaged axons followed by morphologic changes in SCs and the recruitment of circulating macrophages.

We used statistical methods and the GEOS-Chem model to interpret the observed spatiotemporal and probability variations of surface PM concentrations in China from December 2013 to November 2019, as well as to assess the drivers for the variations and the implications for health risks associated with long-term and short-term exposure to PM. Annual and seasonal PM concentrations have decreased over most areas in China during the 6-year period. We decomposed the observed day-to-day variation of PM concentrations in eastern Chinese cities and found that it showed two distinct major spatial modes, which fluctuated in strength seasonally.
