Article Synopsis
  • - Purpose: This study investigated how different types and thicknesses of indirect restorative materials affect the transmission of light from a dental curing light across various wavelengths.
  • - Methods: Four CAD/CAM indirect restorative materials were tested, with thicknesses ranging from 0.5mm to 2.0mm, using a specific light-curing unit and advanced measurement tools to determine the total loss of irradiance for blue and violet wavelengths.
  • - Results: Thinner materials (0.5mm) led to notable light transmission losses, while increased thickness improved transmission; feldspathic ceramics showed less transmission loss than zirconia ceramics, indicating that thicker materials reduce light penetration more significantly.
