Three Decades of Adolescent Health: Unveiling Global Trends Across 41 Countries in Psychological and Somatic Complaints (1994-2022).

Objectives: This study examined (non-)monotonic time trends in psychological and somatic complaints among adolescents, along with gender differences.

Methods: Repeated cross-sectional Health Behaviour in School-aged Children (HBSC) data from 1994 to 2022 covering 15-year-old adolescents from 41 countries (N = 470,797) were analysed. Three polynomial logistic regression models (linear, quadratic, cubic) were tested for best fit, including separate analyses by gender and health complaints dimension.

Basal insulin analogues in type 1 diabetes - Does one size fit all? Lessons from the HypoDeg trial based on single-patient outcomes.

Aims: In the HypoDeg trial, a randomised crossover trial in people with type 1 diabetes prone to nocturnal severe hypoglycaemia, treatment with insulin degludec (IDeg) resulted in significantly reduced rates of nocturnal symptomatic hypoglycaemia and all-day severe hypoglycaemia compared to insulin glargine U100 (IGlar). We analysed HypoDeg data at a single-patient level to assess the proportion of participants to whom the overall result applied.

Methods: Post hoc analysis using single-patient data (n = 133) on nocturnal symptomatic hypoglycaemia, all-day severe hypoglycaemia and HbA.

It is unknown, whether these HPV16-HS interactions depend on HS sulfation patterns.

Associations between eating habits and mental health among adolescents in five nordic countries: a cross-sectional survey.

Background: The role of eating habits in adolescent mental health has become a growing area of interest for researchers and health professionals. Recent studies suggest that healthy eating habits may play a role in the development and management of mental health. However, existing literature is largely based on clinical populations, and comparisons are challenged by sociocultural differences and methodological issues.

Liraglutide enhances insulin secretion and prolongs the remission period in adults with newly diagnosed type 1 diabetes (the NewLira study): A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial.

Potential of 2 northern European brown seaweeds (Fucus serratus and Fucus vesiculosus) as enteric methane inhibitors in dairy cows.

The 2 brown seaweeds, Fucus serratus and Fucus vesiculosus, have demonstrated antimethanogenic properties in vitro with reductions in CH production ranging from 53 to 63%. This study aimed to investigate the effects of the 2 Fucus seaweeds on enteric CH emissions, DMI, ECM, and nutrient digestibility when fed to dairy cows. The experiment was conducted using 4 multicannulated lactating Danish Holstein dairy cows, which over 3 experimental periods received either: (1) basal diet (CON; diet without any seaweed), (2) basal diet diluted with 4% (DM basis) Fucus serratus (SER), or (3) basal diet diluted with 4% (DM basis) Fucus vesiculosus (VES); resulting in one complete 3 × 3 Latin square and one incomplete 3 × 3 Latin square.

Evaluating the Effect of Participation in Bereavement Support Groups on Perceived Mental Well-Being and Grief Reactions.

The study aimed to evaluate the effect of participating in bereavement support groups on mental well-being and levels of grief and to gather information about participants´ experiences of participation. The programme consisted of six sessions over six weeks. Data were collected with the Warwick Edinburgh Mental Well-Being Scale (WEMWBS) and the Adult Attitude to Grief scale (AAG) as well as demographic and open-ended questions.

Cervical cancer screening integrated in routine clinical care of women with HIV.

Objective: To evaluate if integrated cervical cancer screening (CCS) for women with HIV (WWH) in routine HIV care resulted in increased adherence to screening, and to describe the prevalence of human papillomavirus (HPV)-specific genotypes and the incidence of cellular abnormalities.

Design: Cohort study.

Methods: WWH who accepted the offer of combined CCS and HIV care (group 1), WWH who declined the offer (group 2), and WWH not offered CCS within HIV care (group 3) between 2013 and 2019 were included.

Surgical strategy in lithium-associated hyperparathyroidism: A population-based study.

Background: The extent of parathyroidectomy (PTX) recommendation in patients with lithium-associated hyperparathyroidism (LAH) remains controversial. The primary objectives of this study were to analyze extent of surgery, complications, and long-term outcomes.

Methods: A population-based study, including all primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) patients who underwent PTX in Sweden between 2008 and 2017.

Urinary thymidine dimer excretion reflects personal ultraviolet radiation exposure levels.

Exposure to ultraviolet radiation (UVR) leads to skin DNA damage, specifically in the form of cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers, with thymidine dimers being the most common. Quantifying these dimers can indicate the extent of DNA damage resulting from UVR exposure. Here, a new liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) method was used to quantify thymidine dimers in the urine after a temporary increase in real-life UVR exposure.

Cholangioscopy with Spyglass DS using percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography access: a retrospective cohort study.

Background: Conventional peroral methods to visualize biliary strictures are not feasible in some patients with altered anatomy or biliary obstruction, and percutaneous transhepatic cholangioscopy can be used as an alternative procedure. This study aimed to retrospectively review the use of percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography using the SpyGlass DS technology (S-PTCS) during a 5-year period at a Danish tertiary referral centre.

Materials And Methods: All patients who underwent S-PTCS at a single Danish tertiary referral centre between 2016 and 2021 were retrospectively analyzed.

Data Sources: ProQuest Health & Medicine, CINAHL Complete (via EBSCOhost), Scopus, and PubMed were searched for original work published between January 2020 and December 2022.

Discontinuing absorbent pants in children with bedwetting: a randomized controlled trial.

The objective of this study is to examine the effect of discontinuing wearing protective garments (absorbent pyjama pants - APP) in children with severe childhood nocturnal enuresis (NE). The study employs a multicenter, parallel, randomized controlled trial. Following a 4-week run-in period, participants were randomly allocated in a 2:1 group allocation to discontinue or continue using APP.

Regional variations in the management of primary hyperparathyroidism in Sweden: population-based case-control study.

Background: Substantial disparities in the utilization of parathyroidectomy for primary hyperparathyroidism have been reported. This study aimed to analyse regional variations in parathyroidectomy incidence with respect to the patient's disease burden and socioeconomic status.

Methods: A population-based case-control study included all patients with primary hyperparathyroidism who underwent parathyroidectomy in Sweden between 2008 and 2017 and 10 matched controls.

[Incidence and outcomes of perioperative myocardial infarction associated with coronary artery bypass surgery].

Introduction: Perioperative myocardial infarction (PMI) after CABG can contribute to in-hospital morbidity and mortality, however, its clinical significance on long-term outcome, remains inadequately addressed. We studied both 30-day mortality and long-term effects of PMI in Icelandic CABG-patients.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective nationwide-study on 1446 consecutive CABG-patients operated at Landspitali in Iceland 2002-2018 without evidence of preoperative myocardial infarction.

The Professional Nurse Self-Assessment Scale II - Translation and cultural adaptation for Nordic countries.

Background: It is important to map the clinical competence of newly graduated nurses in Nordic countries. The use of a common Nordic instrument could provide insights into nurses' levels of self-assessed clinical competence and perceptions of their need for professional development.

Aim: To translate and culturally adapt the original Norwegian version of the Professional Nurse Self-Assessment Scale II (PROFFNurse SAS II) into (1) Danish, (2) Finnish and (3) Icelandic versions.

Introduction: The aims of this retrospective study were to investigate the incidence, clinical course and short term outcomes of new-onset postoperative atrial fibrillation (POAF) following coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG).

Materials And Methods: A nation-wide study on 1622 patients who underwent CABG from 2006-2020 at Landspitali University Hospital. Clinical data were extracted from registries and 121 patients with pre-existing AF excluded, leaving 1501 patients for further analysis.

The effect of insulin analogs in people with type 1 diabetes at increased risk of severe hypoglycemia.

Type 1 diabetes is characterized by insulin deficiency, and treatment is to supply insulin mimicking the physiological endogenous insulin secretion. Since its discovery, insulin therapy has evolved, and since the 1990s, an increasing number of insulin analogs with various pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic profiles have become available. Despite the improvement of insulin therapy, hypoglycemia remains the main side effect and is a daily concern for many people with diabetes and their families.

Children with cancer and their cardiorespiratory fitness and physical function-the long-term effects of a physical activity program during treatment: a multicenter non-randomized controlled trial.

Purpose: We aimed to determine the effects of a classmate-supported, supervised, in-hospital physical activity program during treatment primarily on cardiorespiratory fitness and secondarily on physical function.

Methods: A multicenter non-randomized controlled intervention study including children diagnosed with cancer, 6-18 years at diagnosis treated with chemo-/radiotherapy. The intervention comprised (i) an educational session on cancer in the child's school class; (ii) selection of two "ambassadors"-classmates who were co-admitted, supporting the child's everyday hospital life; and (iii) supervised in-hospital physical activity from diagnosis and throughout intensive treatment.
