The Aerosol Cloud meTeorology Interactions oVer the western ATlantic Experiment (ACTIVATE) field campaign provides accurate data for aerosol characterization and trace gas profiles, and establishes knowledge of the relationships between aerosols and water. The dropsonde dataset provides an in situ characterization of the vertical thermodynamic structure of the atmosphere during 165 research flights by NASA Langley's King Air research aircraft between February 2020 and June 2022 and four test flights between December 2019 and November 2021. The research flights covered the western North Atlantic region, off the coast of the Eastern United States and around Bermuda and covered all seasons.

Using aircraft, satellite remote sensing, ground-based in situ measurement data, and reanalysis data, we characterize factors explaining the divergent seasonal cycles and furthermore probe into factors influencing on seasonal timescales. The results can be summarized well by features most pronounced in DJF, including features associated with cold-air outbreak (CAO) conditions such as enhanced values of CAO index, planetary boundary layer height (PBLH), low-level liquid cloud fraction, and cloud-top height, in addition to winds aligned with continental outflow.

Aviation-related aerosol emissions contribute to the formation of contrail cirrus clouds that can alter upper tropospheric radiation and water budgets, and therefore climate. The magnitude of air-traffic-related aerosol-cloud interactions and the ways in which these interactions might change in the future remain uncertain. Modelling studies of the present and future effects of aviation on climate require detailed information about the number of aerosol particles emitted per kilogram of fuel burned and the microphysical properties of those aerosols that are relevant for cloud formation.

Modeled aerosol mass, number, and particle size distribution are within variability of data obtained from multiple-airborne in situ measurements. Participants provided details of occupation, income, and debt levels and completed two psychometric scales: the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) and Yale Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale-Shopping Version (YBOCS-SV).
The emissions from a Garrett-AiResearch (now Honeywell) Model GTCP85-98CK auxiliary power unit (APU) were determined as part of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA's) Alternative Aviation Fuel Experiment (AAFEX) using both JP-8 and a coal-derived Fischer Tropsch fuel (FT-2). Measurements were conducted by multiple research organizations for sulfur dioxide (SO2, total hydrocarbons (THC), carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), speciated gas-phase emissions, particulate matter (PM) mass and number, black carbon, and speciated PM. Methods: Twenty-five patients (twenty-one men) with congestive heart failure were interviewed at City Hospital, Birmingham, UK.
This paper reports the results of a study of GP costs associated with a group of nursing home patients who died at various stages during a 12-month period. The relationship between costs per month of care, patient age and proximity to death, where sex and diagnosis are controlled for are reported. A comparison of care costs for patients in their last year of life and those who survived the course of the study is also made.
