The Perceived Corporate Social Responsibility of Major Sport Organizations by the German Public: An Empirical Analysis During the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Sport governing bodies have played a special role in society during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Following stakeholder theory and consumption capital theory, this study investigated the actions of the German Bundesliga (DFL), Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) during this phase as perceived by the German population and through the lens of corporate social responsibility (CSR). Based on a representative sample of the German resident population ( = 1,000), the study examined the individual characteristics that influenced the perceived CSR of these organizations and what population clusters emerged from this perception.

Intentions of Environmentally Friendly Behavior Among Sports Club Members: An Empirical Test of the Theory of Planned Behavior Across Genders and Sports.

Environmentally friendly behavior has become increasingly important in recent years to reduce the speed of climate change and its negative impacts. Individual behavior, including environmentally friendly behavior, is largely formed by behavioral intentions. This study draws on the theory of planned behavior to examine the effects of attitudes toward the behavior, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control on intentions of environmentally friendly behavior.

Development of orally available phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4) inhibitors as anti-inflammatory drugs has been going on for decades. However, only roflumilast has received FDA approval. One key challenge has been the low therapeutic window observed in the clinic for PDE4 inhibitors, primarily due to PDE4 mediated side effects.

Calcipotriol delivery into the skin with PEGylated liposomes.

The D-vitamin analogue calcipotriol is commonly used for topical treatment of psoriasis, but skin penetration is required for calcipotriol to reach its pharmacological target: the keratinocytes in the lower epidermis. Liposomes can enhance the delivery of drugs into the skin, but a major challenge for the development of dosage forms containing liposomes is to maintain the colloidal stability in the formulation. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of stabilising liposomes with the lipopolymer poly(ethylene glycol)-distearoylphosphoethanolamine (PEG-DSPE) on the physicochemical properties of the liposomes and the ability to deliver membrane-intercalated calcipotriol into the skin.

Different secondary structure elements as scaffolds for protein folding transition states of two homologous four-helix bundles.

Comparison of the folding processes for homologue proteins can provide valuable information about details in the interactions leading to the formation of the folding transition state. Here the folding kinetics of 18 variants of yACBP and 3 variants of bACBP have been studied by Phi-value analysis. In combination with Phi-values from previous work, detailed insight into the transition states for folding of both yACBP and bACBP has been obtained.

Backbone dynamics of the first, second, and third immunoglobulin modules of the neural cell adhesion molecule (NCAM).

The neural cell adhesion molecule (NCAM) is a cell surface multimodular protein, which plays an important role in cell-cell adhesion by homophilic (NCAM-NCAM) and heterophilic (NCAM-non-NCAM molecules) binding. In the present study, the backbone dynamics of the first three immunoglobulin-like (Ig) modules of NCAM have been investigated by NMR spectroscopy. Ig1, Ig2, and Ig3 share low sequence identity but possess the same fold and have very similar three-dimensional structures.

Interaction between ellagic acid and calf thymus DNA studied with flow linear dichroism UV-VIS spectroscopy.

The interaction between ellagic acid and DNA has been characterized with respect to the geometry of the ellagic acid-DNA complex, and the active form of ellagic acid has been identified. Optical spectroscopic methods have been employed to examine the interaction between double-stranded calf thymus DNA and ellagic acid in low-ionic-strength aqueous solutions at pH values of 5.5, 7.

Pharmacological characterization of positive inotropic derivatives of 4-amino-7-methyl-1,8-naphthyridine-3-carboxylic acid.

The positive inotropic effect of a series of 4-amino-7-methyl-1,8-naphthyridine-3-carboxylic acid derivatives was compared with the effects of known inotropic agents (ouabain, dihydroouabain, isoproterenol, adrenaline, histamine and isobutylmethylxanthine) in guinea-pig atrial and ventricular myocardial preparations. With respect to their functional effects, the 1,8-naphthyridine compounds are clearly different from drugs acting on the cAMP system, whereas several similarities with cardiac glycoside effects were found. Their ability to inhibit [3H]ouabain binding in guinea-pig cardiac membranes correlates well with their effects on myocardial contractile force.

Psychosocial, neuropsychological and neurological status in a sample of heart transplant recipients.

The sample for this psychosocial follow-up study was formed using the 71 surviving patients from a total of 100 who underwent heart transplantation up until March 1990 at Kiel University Hospital. Forty of these could be investigated comprehensively. The neurological investigation comprised EEG and auditory and visually evoked potentials.

[Generalized diabetic dermangiopathy].

Report on a 37-years old male with infantile diabetic manifestations. He is suffering now from severe diabetic retinopathy, nephropathy, neuropathy and a fresh myocardiac infarction. The entire integument is spotted with single brownish-red patches, each one from 3 to 10 mm in diameter.

[Immunomorphological and ultrastructural findings on the musculature in progressive scleroderma].

Muscle biopsies taken from 30 patients with generalized scleroderma were studied immuno-histologically as well as by light and electron microscopy. The immunological investigations have demonstrated that an increase of IgM and/or complement depositions in capillaries and in the walls of small arteries have been involved in most cases. Similar alterations were found in the subsarcolemmal zone.
