Quadruple perovskite oxides have received extensive attention in electronics and catalysis, owing to their cation-ordering structure and intriguing physical properties. However, their repertoires still remain limited. In particular, piezoelectricity from quadruple perovskites has been rarely reported due to the frustrated symmetry-breaking transition in A-site-ordered perovskite structures, disabling their piezoelectric applications.

In-cell NMR reveals metabolic adaptations in central carbon pathways driving antibiotic tolerance in Typhimurium.

Antibiotic tolerance presents a significant challenge in eradicating bacterial infections, as tolerant strains can survive antibiotic treatment, contributing to the recurrence of infections and the development of resistance. However, unlike antibiotic resistance, tolerance is not detectable by standard susceptibility assays such as minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) tests. Consequently, antibiotic tolerance often goes unnoticed in clinical settings.

Healthcare professionals' experiences of the change to telephone consultations in cancer care during the COVID-19 pandemic: An explorative qualitative study.

Objective: During the COVID-19 pandemic, changes were made in cancer care including increased use of teleconsultations (TCs) and restrictions for relatives to attend in-person appointments at the outpatient clinics. This study aimed to provide in-depth information on healthcare professionals' experiences of TC and the limited access for relatives during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

Methods: This qualitative study was conducted at an oncological department responsible for oncological care of all patients with cancer in one of five health regions in Denmark.

Generation Healthy Kids: Protocol for a cluster-randomized controlled trial of a multi-component and multi-setting intervention to promote healthy weight and wellbeing in 6-11-year-old children in Denmark.

Background: Childhood obesity can have significant negative consequences for children's wellbeing and long-term health. Prior school-based interventions to prevent child overweight and obesity have shown limited effects, highlighting the necessity for comprehensive approaches addressing complex drivers of childhood obesity. "Generation Healthy Kids" (GHK) is a multi-setting, multi-component intervention to promote healthy weight development, health and wellbeing in Danish children aged 6-11 years.

Impact of short-term locum doctor employments on the transition from medical student to residency.

Introduction: The transition from medical student to resident is often stressful and challenging. Medical graduates' sense of preparedness for residency increases as they spend more time in the clinic. In Denmark, temporary short-term locum doctor employment (LDE) may be an opportunity to increase preparedness for future residency and ease the expected and experienced stress of the transition.

NEXAFS spectroscopy of alkylated benzothienobenzothiophene thin films at the carbon and sulfur K-edges.

Alkylated benzothienobenzothiophenes are an important class of organic semiconductors that exhibit high performance in solution-processed organic field-effect transistors. In this work, we study the near-edge x-ray absorption fine-structure (NEXAFS) spectra of 2,7-didecyl[1]benzothieno[3,2-b][1]benzothiophene (C10-BTBT) at both the carbon and sulfur K-edges. Angle-resolved experiments of thin films are performed to characterize the dichroism associated with molecular orientation.

Postoperative Exercise Training in Patients with Colorectal Liver Metastases A Randomized Controlled Trial.

Background: Postoperative morbidity can reduce quality of life, physical performance, and tolerability of postoperative chemotherapy in patients with colorectal liver metastases (CRLM). Exercise can improve these outcomes in some cancer populations. However, it remains unknown whether exercise can be delivered in the early postoperative period following surgery for CRLM without increasing the risk of harms.

Perinatal death in the Nordic countries in relation to gestational age: The impact of registration practice.

Introduction: Although perinatal death rates in the Nordic countries are among the lowest in the world, the risk of perinatal death is unevenly distributed across the Nordic countries, despite similarity in health care systems and pregnancy care. Birth registration practices across countries may explain some of the differences. We investigated differences in national registration of perinatal mortality within the Nordic countries and its impact on perinatal mortality according to gestational age.

Normalization of Fetal Cerebral and Hepatic Iron by Parental Iron Therapy to Pregnant Rats with Systemic Iron Deficiency without Anemia.

Background/objectives: Iron (Fe) is a co-factor for enzymes of the developing brain necessitating sufficient supply. We investigated the effects of administering ferric derisomaltose/Fe isomaltoside (FDI) subcutaneously to Fe-deficient (ID) pregnant rats on cerebral and hepatic concentrations of essential metals and the expression of iron-relevant genes.

Methods: Pregnant rats subjected to ID were injected with FDI on the day of mating (E0), 14 days into pregnancy (E14), or the day of birth (postnatal (P0)).

Involving community pharmacies in management of late effects of cancer treatment: Opinions from cancer survivors.

Background: More than 50 % of cancer survivors experience late effects of cancer (LEC). Current models of follow-up care often prove inadequate, resulting in unresolved LEC. Given the pivotal role of community pharmacists as the most accessible healthcare professionals and the demonstrated benefits of evidence-based pharmacy services on patient centered care, exploring the potential contribution of community pharmacies in managing LEC is relevant.

How infants predict respect-based power.

Research has shown that infants represent legitimate leadership and predict continued obedience to authority, but which cues they use to do so remains unknown. Across eight pre-registered experiments varying the cue provided, we tested if Norwegian 21-month-olds (N=128) expected three protagonists to obey a character even in her absence. We assessed whether bowing for the character, receiving a tribute from or conferring a benefit to the protagonists, imposing a cost on them (forcefully taking a resource or hitting them), or relative physical size were used as cues to generate the expectation of continued obedience that marks legitimate leadership.

New immune phenotypes for treatment response in high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma patients.

Despite advances in surgical and therapeutic approaches, high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC) prognosis remains poor. Surgery is an indispensable component of therapeutic protocols, as removal of all visible tumor lesions (cytoreduction) profoundly improves the overall survival. Enhanced predictive tools for assessing cytoreduction are essential to optimize therapeutic precision.

Objectives: In patients with epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC), the clinical efficacy of monotherapy with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) against PD-1/PD-L1 is modest. To enhance response rates to these immunotherapeutic agents and broaden the indications for their use, new approaches involving combinational therapy are needed. The immune regulator CD73 is a potential target, as it promotes tumor escape by producing immunosuppressive extracellular adenosine in the tumor microenvironment.

Identification of antibiotic induced persister cells in Streptococcus agalactiae.

Antibiotic persistence is a phenomenon, where a small fraction of a bacterial population expresses a phenotypic variation that allows them to survive antibiotic treatment, which is lethal to the rest of the population. These cells are called persisters cells, and their occurrence has been associated with recurrent disease. Streptococcus agalactiae is a human pathobiont, able to cause invasive infections, and recurrent infections have been reported to occur in both newborns and adults.

Identifying psychosocial vulnerabilities in pregnancy: A mixed-method systematic review of the knowledge base of antenatal conversational psychosocial assessment tools.

Background: Early identification of psychosocial vulnerability among expectant parents through psychosocial assessment is increasingly recommended within maternity care. For routine antenatal assessment, a strong recognition exists regarding conversational assessment tools. However, the knowledge base of conversational tools is limited, inhibiting their clinical use.

Attachment and Political Personality are Heritable and Distinct Systems, and Both Share Genetics with Interpersonal Trust and Altruism.

The attachment and caregiving domains maintain proximity and care-giving behavior between parents and offspring, in a way that has been argued to shape people's mental models of how relationships work, resulting in secure, anxious or avoidant interpersonal styles in adulthood. Several theorists have suggested that the attachment system is closely connected to orientations and behaviors in social and political domains, which should be grounded in the same set of familial experiences as are the different attachment styles. We use a sample of Norwegian twins (N = 1987) to assess the genetic and environmental relationship between attachment, trust, altruism, right-wing authoritarianism (RWA), and social dominance orientation (SDO).

A novel high-throughput screening method for identifying compounds that inhibit plasmid conjugation.

Plasmid conjugation is an important contributing factor to the spread of antibiotic resistance among bacteria, posing a significant global health threat. Our method introduces an innovative high-throughput screening approach to identify compounds that inhibit or reduce conjugation, addressing the need for new strategies against the spread of antimicrobial resistance. Using strains as donor and recipient, we screened 3500 compounds from a library provided by ABAC Therapeutics.

Child Sexual Abuse Victimization Amongst Detained Adolescents and Incarcerated Young Adults: Findings from an Australian Population-Based Birth Cohort Study.

To guide prevention and intervention efforts, the prevalence and impact of child sexual abuse (CSA) victimization among detained and incarcerated populations requires further examination, particularly with consideration of multi-type maltreatment experiences and sex-based variations. This longitudinal population-based study explores these relationships in an Australian birth cohort comprising all individuals born in Queensland in 1983 and 1984 ( = 82,409; 48.68% female).

Barriers and enablers for externally and internally driven implementation processes in healthcare: a qualitative cross-case study.

Background: Quality in healthcare is a subject in need of continuous attention. Quality improvement (QI) programmes with the purpose of increasing service quality are therefore of priority for healthcare leaders and governments. This study explores the implementation process of two different QI programmes, one externally driven implementation and one internally driven, in Norwegian nursing homes and home care services.

Background: Nineteen genomic regions have been associated with high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC). We used data from the Ovarian Cancer Association Consortium (OCAC), Consortium of Investigators of Modifiers of (CIMBA), UK Biobank (UKBB), and FinnGen to identify novel HGSOC susceptibility loci and develop polygenic scores (PGS).

Biomedical laboratory scientists and technicians in digital pathology - Is there a need for professional development?

Objective: Digital pathology (DP) is moving into Danish pathology departments at high pace. Conventionally, biomedical laboratory scientists (BLS) and technicians have prepared tissue sections for light microscopy, but workflow alterations are required for the new digital era with whole slide imaging (WSI); digitally assisted image analysis (DAIA) and artificial intelligence (AI). We aim to explore the role of BLS in DP and assess a potential need for professional development.

2D Ferromagnetic MGeTe (M = Ni/Fe) for Boosting Intermediates Adsorption toward Faster Water Oxidation.

In this work, 2D ferromagnetic MGeTe (MGT, M = Ni/Fe) nanosheets with rich atomic Te vacancies (2D-MGT) are demonstrated as efficient OER electrocatalyst via a general mechanical exfoliation strategy. X-ray absorption spectra (XAS) and scanning transmission electron microscope (STEM) results validate the dominant presence of metal-O moieties and rich Te vacancies, respectively. The formed Te vacancies are active for the adsorption of OH* and O* species while the metal-O moieties promote the O* and OOH* adsorption, contributing synergistically to the faster oxygen evolution kinetics.
