Heat exposure could cause organ injuries leading to multi-organ failure. This case report describes a cardiopulmonary healthy 61-year-old woman who was admitted to our university hospital in an unconscious state after spending more than 30 min in an 80°C sauna. Initial radiological imaging revealed no pathological findings.

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a fatal lung disease, which is usually diagnosed late in advanced stages. Little is known about the subclinical development of IPF. We previously generated a mouse model with conditional deficiency () that develops IPF-like lung disease.

Objectives: This systematic review aimed to characterize common NPAEs occurring during tenofovir‑based ART and PrEP, and to assess the specific role of tenofovir in their emergence.
Patients And Methods: Four literature databases and 3 trial registries were searched up to December 31, 2023 for randomized controlled trials reporting NPAEs in treatment‑naive adults receiving tenofovir‑based ART or PrEP.
BackgroundCarriage of multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs) in humans constitutes an important public health concern. Cross-transmission of bacteria between animals and humans has been demonstrated before.AimOur aim was to quantify the risk factor 'pet ownership' for MDRO colonisation in hospital patients.

Our analysis is in favor of reclassification of the members of the family into four genera: (i) the monophyletic genus Selys, 1854, with the number of known species reduced by three synonymizations; (ii) the genus Leach in Brewster, 1815 including all members of the group and, as a preliminary solution, the American species Novelo-Gutiérrez, 2018 and, very tentatively, Selys, 1868. The group forms a genus of its own, for which we restored the name Selys 1854, stat.

In this study our purpose was to better understand the attitudes, beliefs, and knowledge of ED nurses in caring for patients with opioid use disorder (OUD). We hypothesized a difference in training received and attitudes toward caring for patients with OUD between nurses with <5 years and ≥6 years of clinical experience.

Importantly, nectin-4 expression in bladder cancer is associated with response to enfortumab vedotin, and PD-L1 expression is associated with responses to immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs).
Methods: The authors conducted a retrospective review identifying 117 patients with advanced or metastatic BCDD who were treated at Winship Cancer Institute from 2011 to 2021.
Neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's disease are characterized by the accumulation of misfolded proteins into fibrils in the brain. Atomic force microscopy is a nanoscale imaging technique that can be used to resolve and quantify protein aggregates from oligomers to fibrils. Recently, we characterized protein fibrillar aggregates adsorbed on the surface of red blood cells with atomic force microscopy from patients with neurocognitive disorders, suggesting a novel Alzheimer's disease biomarker.

These tumors typically demonstrate benign histology and favorable outcomes. This study examines 6 previously unreported intraosseous METs harboring the EWSR1::PBX3 fusion, focusing on their histopathologic characteristics, immunophenotype, clinical and radiographic profiles, and patient outcomes.

In contrast to the widely investigated injection lubrication, more comprehensive knowledge is needed on the drag loss behavior of dip-lubricated wet clutches. In the development phase, data-driven models allow drag loss predictions with low computational effort and, at the same time, sufficient accuracy.

Here we present a concept for a compact, photonic-assisted digital-to-analog converter (DAC) and optical IQ-modulator in one single integrated device based on two innovative concepts: a segmented Mach-Zehnder modulator and orthogonal sampling. For electrically driving the modulator, only a single radio frequency oscillator and no pulse source or electrical DAC are required.

Therefore, knowledge about the plate movement is essential for investigating and optimizing the drag loss behavior. This paper presents a methodology for image-based measurement of plate movement in disengaged wet clutches.

While no previous clinical reports link pancytopenia to IFN-γ, our observations align with basic research on myelosuppressive effects of IFN-γ. Adjunctive IFN-γ may improve standard nocardiosis therapy, but vigilant monitoring of its hematologic effects is necessary.

However, by in vitro crystallization extensive efforts are usually required to purify proteins and produce sufficiently homogeneous microcrystals. Here, we present InCellCryst, an advanced pipeline for producing homogeneous microcrystals directly within living insect cells.

While quitting smoking is the best option, switching from cigarettes to non-combustible alternatives (NCAs) such as e-vapor products is a viable harm reduction approach for smokers who would otherwise continue to smoke. A key challenge for the clinical assessment of NCAs is that self-reported product use can be unreliable, compromising the proper evaluation of their risk reduction potential.

A high-photon-flux undulator beamline is used to perform tomographic phase-contrast acquisition in about two minutes which is linked to an automated data processing pipeline that delivers a 3D reconstructed data set less than a minute and a half after the completion of the X-ray scan. Combining this workflow with a sophisticated robotic sample changer enables the streamlined collection and reconstruction of X-ray imaging data from potentially hundreds of samples during a beam-time shift.

However, no fundamental information on the oil flow and drag torque generation is available for dip-lubricated wet clutches. Therefore, the oil flow and drag torque generation in the sub-millimeter gap of a dip-lubricated wet clutch was experimentally investigated for three practically relevant oil levels.

This study comprised eighteen patients experiencing serious shoulder discomfort, all of whom underwent magnetic resonance imaging, including T2 mapping sequences, followed by shoulder joint arthroscopy. Regions of interest were meticulously positioned on their respective T2 maps, capturing the sulcal portion of the LBT and allowing for the quantification of the average T2 values.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA group-delay-unit-based integrated silicon photonic integrated circuit (PIC) is employed as a reconfigurable analog radio frequency decoder, which provides a real-time temporal and spectral analysis of any arbitrary multi-tone signal in the micro- and mm-wave range. The circuit is based on cascaded Mach-Zehnder interferometer embedded silicon microring resonators as variable delay units. The temporal decoding of the multi-tone input signal is demonstrated by tuning the signal with respect to the ring resonator delay and resonance.
