Perineural injections of incobotulinumtoxin-A for diabetic neuropathic pain of the lower extremities: protocol for a phase II, single-centre, double-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled trial (the PINBOT study).

Introduction: Diabetic neuropathic pain (DNP) is a debilitating complication affecting 15-20% of people with diabetes and is a predictor of depression, poor sleep and decreased quality of life. Current pharmacological treatments are often insufficient and have significant side-effects. Subcutaneous or intradermal botulinumtoxin-A (BonT-A) is an effective and safe treatment for neuropathic pain but is limited by the need to cover the entire affected area with injections.

Socio-Demographics, Pain Characteristics, Quality of Life and Treatment Values Before and After Specialized Interdisciplinary Pain Treatment: Results from the Danish Clinical Pain Registry (PainData).

Background And Aims: PainData is an electronic internet-based clinical pain registry established to improve the understanding and treatment of high-impact chronic pain. The primary aim of this paper is to describe socio-demographics, pain characteristics, quality of life, and treatment values at baseline and follow-up in individuals referred to public and private interdisciplinary pain centers in Denmark between 2018 and 2020.

Methods: Self-reported patient-reported outcomes collected through PainData before (n=12,257) and after (n=4,111) treatment across 13 public and private interdisciplinary specialized pain centers in Denmark (87% of all pain centers in Denmark) are described.

[Cannabinoids for neuropathic pain management].

Pharmacological treatment of neuropathic pain is associated with side effects and limited efficacy. Recently, the interest in cannabis-based medicine has led to legalisation of medical cannabis in some countries. The aim of this review is to evaluate the evidence of cannabinoids in neuropathic pain.

Prevalence of neuropathic pain according to the IASP grading system in patients with chronic non-malignant pain.

Objective: The primary objective was to determine the prevalence of neuropathic pain according to the new International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) grading system. The development of stump and phantom pain after limb amputation in patients with complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is very frequent. Stump pain is typically recurred CRPS and the possibilities for effective pharmacological pain relief are often limited. Spinal cord stimulation (SCS) has a well-documented pain relieving effect in patients with CRPS.
