Monitoring an ungagged coastal marsh to analyze the salinity interaction of the marsh with Lake Erie.

Phragmites growth in a marsh watershed due to increased salinity has been a crucial issue across the world. The objective of this study was to investigate the salinity movement in the ungagged Mentor Marsh of Ohio, USA, where the salinity had increased due to a number of potential sources causing a decline in the native vegetation and leading to the increased invasive phragmites growth. In this study, we conducted a detailed bathymetric survey and established several monitoring stations to record hourly environmental data in Mentor Marsh.

Symmetric Mixed Sulfur-Selenium Fused Ring Systems as Potential Materials for Organic Field-Effect Transistors.

A reliable synthetic protocol toward a series of fused chalcogenopheno[1]benzochalcogenophene (CBC) building blocks was developed based on a Fiesselmann reaction. The obtained CBC units were applied in McMurry and Stille coupling reactions toward symmetric regioisomeric ene-linked dimers. These π-conjugated compounds were characterized regarding their photophysical and electrochemical properties and proved to be materials with reduced HOMO-LUMO gaps compared to their sulfur-based analogues.

Endophthalmitis in the era of small gauge transconjunctival sutureless vitrectomy--meta analysis and review of literature.

Purpose: The goal of this study was to review, evaluate, and perform a meta-analysis on the current literature that reports rates of postoperative endophthalmitis after small gauge transconjunctival sutureless vitrectomy (TSV) and compare it to 20-gauge pars plana vitrectomy (20G PPV).

Methods: We performed an extensive review of the current literature. We included only large comparative institutional reviews.
