Introduction: Injured adolescents may be treated at pediatric trauma centres (PTCs) or adult trauma centres (ATCs). Patient and parent experiences are an integral component of high-quality health care and can influence patient clinical trajectory. Despite this knowledge, there is little research on differences between PTCs and ATCs with respect to patient and caregiver-reported experience.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to evaluate the reliability of a modified Patient-Reported Experience Measures (PREMs) for adolescents and their parents to assess the quality of trauma care, particularly focusing on teen-related aspects such as education and social support.
  • - Results showed that 40 adolescents and 40 parents participated, with tests revealing generally good reliability for communication and care experiences, but poorer reliability for areas affected by the pandemic, like social networks and educational support.
  • - Parents exhibited more variability in their responses over time, suggesting potential recall bias, which, alongside pandemic-related challenges, may have impacted the survey's overall reliability.
