[Socio-medical assessments in the context of rehabilitation].

Legal requirements surrounding medical rehabilitation are firmly anchored in German social legislation: see Sozialgesetzbuch IX - Rehabilitation und Teilhabe von Menschen mit Behinderung (Social Law Book IX-Rehabilitation and Participation of Disabled People). Disabled people, and people threatened by disability, are thus legally eligible for rehab. Medical rehab staff must deal with many socio-medical questions during the whole rehabilitation process.

[Rehabilitation after Hip Arthroplasty - Between Fast-Track Surgery and Orthogeriatrics].

Surgical procedures as well as length of stay and age limits have changed significantly in recent years in the context of hip arthroplasty. While hospitals are becoming increasingly specialised and patients are sometimes discharged to follow-up rehabilitation after only three to four days, the rehabilitation clinic providing follow-up care has to maintain a well-differentiated treatment pathway in order to meet the different requirements and needs between patients with fast-track surgery and orthogeriatric patients.

Background: Tears and lesions of the rotator cuff are a frequent cause of shoulder pain and disability. Surgical repair of the rotator cuff is a valuable procedure to improve shoulder function and decrease pain. However, there is no consensus concerning the rehabilitation protocol following surgery.
