Estrone (E1) constitutes the primary component in oral conjugated equine estrogens (CEEs) and serves as the principal estrogen precursor in the female circulation in the post-menopause. E1 induces endothelium-dependent vasodilation and activate PI3K/NO/cGMP signaling. To assess whether E1 mitigates vascular dysfunction associated with postmenopause and explore the underlying mechanisms, we examined the vascular effects of E1 in ovariectomized (OVX) rats, a postmenopausal experimental model.

Molecular modification of compounds remains important strategy towards the discovery of new drugs. In this sense, this study presents a new pyrazole derivative 5-(1-(2-fluorophenyl)-1-pyrazol-4-yl)-1-tetrazole (LQFM039) and evaluated the anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and vasorelaxant effects of this compound as well the mechanisms of action involved in the pharmacological effects. For this, mice were orally treated with LQFM039 (17.

Despite hydrolytic exoenzymes and biosurfactants having been gradually reported from the poriferan microbiome, little is known about these bioproducts in microorganisms inhabiting Homoscleromorpha sponges. Here, we investigated the production of hydrolases and biosurfactants in bacteria isolated from three shallow-water homoscleromorph species, Oscarella sp., Plakina cyanorosea, and Plakina cabofriense.

Aiming to understand the impact of hardening on the biological potential of bean protein and peptides, we evaluated the antioxidant and vasorelaxant properties of common beans after and before hardening. It was also evaluated the effect of extrusion and autoclaving in the biological potential of hardened beans. In general, hardening caused a reduction from 13.

Pequi () is an endemic species from Brazilian Cerrado, and their fruits are widely used in regional cuisine. In this work, a crude hydroalcoholic extract (CHE) of leaves and its resulting fractions in hexane (HF), chloroform (CF), ethyl acetate (EAF), and butanol (BF) were investigated for their antioxidant properties and anticholinesterase activities. The antioxidant properties were evaluated by free radical scavenging and electroanalytical assays, which were further correlated with the total phenolic content and LC-MS results.

ex DC Mart. (Myrtaceae), popularly known as "cagaita," is a Brazilian plant rich in polyphenols and other antioxidant compounds. Aiming to evaluate the potential use of cagaita in pathologies involving oxidative stress, such as neurodegenerative disorders, this study investigated its antioxidant potential and neuroprotective effect.

Estrone (E1) produces remarkable vascular effects, including relaxation, modulation of proliferation, apoptosis and cell adhesion. This study investigated the role of estrogen receptors and endothelial signaling pathways in the vascular relaxation promoted by E1. Aortic rings from male Wistar rats (250-300 g) were contracted with phenylephrine and stimulated with graded concentrations of E1.

The molecular modification and synthesis of compounds is vital to discovering drugs with desirable pharmacological and toxicity profiles. In response to pyrazole compounds' antipyretic, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory effects, this study sought to evaluate the analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and vasorelaxant effects, as well as the mechanisms of action, of a new pyrazole derivative, 5-[1-(4-fluorophenyl)-1H-pyrazol-4-yl]-2H-tetrazole. During the acetic acid-induced abdominal writhing test, treatments with 5-[1-(4-fluorophenyl)-1H-pyrazol-4-yl]-2H-tetrazole reduced abdominal writhing, while during the formalin test, 5-[1-(4-fluorophenyl)-1H-pyrazol-4-yl]-2H-tetrazole reduced licking times in response to both neurogenic pain and inflammatory pain, all without demonstrating any antinociceptive effects, as revealed during the tail flick test.

The mechanisms of action involved in the vasorelaxant effect of gallic acid (GA) were examined in the isolated rat thoracic aorta. GA exerted a relaxant effect in the highest concentrations (0.4-10mM) in both endothelium-intact and endothelium-denuded aortic rings.

Hypernatremia stimulates the secretion of oxytocin (OT), but the physiological role of OT remains unclear. The present study sought to determine the involvement of OT and renal nerves in the renal responses to an intravenous infusion of hypertonic saline. Male Wistar rats (280-350 g) were anesthetized with sodium thiopental (40 mg.

Aims: Clinical complaints on the first-line of cardiovascular medications make continuous search for new drugs a necessity. This study evaluated the cardiovascular effects and mechanism of 4-[(1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)methyl]1-piperazine carboxylic acid ethyl ester (LQFM008).

Main Methods: Normotensive male Wistar or spontaneously hypertensive rats (anesthetized or conscious) were used to evaluate the effect of LQFM008 on the mean arterial pressure (MAP), heart rate (HR), arterial blood flow (ABF), arterial vascular conductance (AVC), baroreflex effectiveness index (BI), systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP) and vascular function.

Application of naturally occurring (E) - methyl isoeugenol (MIE) as food flavour has been widely accepted despite the growing concerns over cardiovascular issue. Hence, we sought to investigate hypotensive property of MIE and the involvement of central and/or peripheral mechanism (s). Variation in mean arterial pressure (MAP), heart rate (HR), systolic blood pressure (SBP), baroreflex sensitivity of normotensive rats and vascular reactivity were recorded.
