Fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) can be suspected in newborns based on the maternal history of alcohol use during pregnancy and compelling physical attributes present at birth. The infrequency with which it is assessed during infancy makes FASD evaluation in newborns a formidable diagnostic challenge. Our objective was to evaluate a three-day-old male infant born at 37 weeks gestation via vaginal delivery to a mother with admitted excessive alcohol intake for FASD.
