- Five virus isolates from different regions were studied, revealing that GL1 is closely related to a Japanese virus (EAPV) and GL2 to a Chinese virus (TelMV), while three others (DN1, DN4, NA1) are distinct potyviruses leading to a new species proposal, PaMoV.
- ELISA and PCR tests on 240 samples showed that PaMoV is the primary cause of PWD in Vietnam, with EAPV and mixed infections being less common, while TelMV is rarely detected.

Analysis of the molecular epidemiology of this bacterium is hindered by a lack of molecular typing techniques suitable for surveillance and outbreak investigation.
