Neurodegenerative diseases (NDs) such as dementia, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, frontotemporal dementia, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis are some of the most prevalent disorders currently afflicting healthcare systems. Many of these diseases share similar pathological hallmarks, including elevated oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, protein misfolding, excitotoxicity, and neuroinflammation, all of which contribute to the deterioration of the nervous system's structure and function. The development of diagnostic and therapeutic materials in the monitoring and treatment of these diseases remains challenging.

A new depsidone, parmoferone A (), together with three known compounds, parmosidone K (), albifolione (), and 4-chloroorcinol () were isolated from the lichen (Taylor) Hale (Parmeliaceae). The structures of isolated compounds were identified from its spectroscopic data and by comparison with the literature. Compounds were evaluated for alpha-glucosidase inhibition.

Developing low-cost and highly effective adsorbent materials to decolorate wastewater is still challenging in the industry. In this study, TiO-modified AlO microspheres with different TiO contents were produced by spray pyrolysis, which is rapid and easy to scale up. Results reveal that the modification of γ-AlO with TiO reduced the crystallite size of AlO and generated more active sites in the composite sample.

This study examined the active constituents and molecular mechanisms underlying these anti-inflammatory effects using bioactivity-guided isolation in combination with cell-based assays and animal models of inflammation. Among the isolated compounds, the triterpenoid (21α)-22-hydroxyhopan-3-one () showed the most potent inhibitory effect on COX-2 expression in LPS-stimulated Raw 264.
