This paper aims to evaluate whether there is a device-dependent effect on the reduction of surgical site complications in obese patients (body mass index [BMI] ≥ 30 kg/m) undergoing cesarean section (C-section). PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and ClinicalTrials.gov were searched for the period, January 2011 to September 2021.

Importance of the Third Trimester Complete Blood Count: A Case Report on Aplastic Anemia in Pregnancy.

Aplastic anemia (AA) poses a significant threat to maternal and fetal health throughout the perinatal period. Diagnosis is based on complete blood count (CBC) and bone marrow biopsy with treatment varying based on severity of disease. This report highlights a case of AA incidentally identified by the third trimester CBC drawn in the outpatient office.

Intraoperative dyes, fluorescence and enhanced imaging in benign gynaecologic surgery.

Purpose Of Review: We review the literature regarding the use of dyes and fluorescence-guided visualization techniques in gynaecological surgery. We also discuss advances in imaging that may enhance surgery by incorporating real-time visual feedback through augmented reality and preoperative planning with patient-specific, three-dimensional printed surgical fields.

Recent Findings: Methylene blue is one of the most commonly used dyes, while indocyanine green is the most used agent in fluorescence-guided surgery.
