Higher education is regarded as being of paramount importance in Vietnam and as being essential to raising the level of the country's labor force and promoting economic progress. Evaluation of lecturers is one of the institution's activities and a crucial component of managing human resources in higher education institutions. How to evaluate faculty members' overall performance using a range of criteria is one of the key evaluation-related challenges.

Article Synopsis
  • * Researchers evaluated 18 patients who underwent this procedure, comparing eyelid heights before and after surgery, and found significant improvements in symmetry, especially in medial and central ptosis.
  • * Although some patients experienced mild postoperative complications, all resolved within a month, and no long-term asymmetries or issues were reported, highlighting the procedure as a safe and effective option.

Background: While particular strains within the Bacillus species, such as Bacillus subtilis, have been commercially utilised as probiotics, it is critical to implement screening assays and evaluate the safety to identify potential Bacillus probiotic strains before clinical trials. This is because some Bacillus species, including B. cereus and B.

Background: SARS-CoV-2 vaccination in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients treated with B cell-depleting drugs induced limited seroconversion but robust cellular response. We aimed to document specific T and B cell immunity in response to vaccine booster doses and breakthrough infection (BTI).

Methods: We included 76 RA patients treated with rituximab who received up to four SARS-CoV-2 vaccine doses or three doses plus BTI, in addition to vaccinated healthy donors (HD) and control patients treated with tumor necrosis factor inhibitor (TNFi).

In brightfield and fluorescence microscopy, capturing images that show well-focused and immobile microorganisms can be challenging. An agarose-based gel pad reduces the variability of results, especially in conditions like uneven specimen staging, variable fluid dynamics, and Brownian motion that plague conventional wet mount setups. To correct these discrepancies during image acquisition, we analyzed three micropad preparation setups.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has become a global health concern. The development of vaccines with high immunogenicity and safety is crucial for controlling the global COVID-19 pandemic and preventing further illness and fatalities. Here, we report the development of a SARS-CoV-2 vaccine candidate, Nanocovax, based on recombinant protein production of the extracellular (soluble) portion of the spike (S) protein of SARS-CoV-2.

Introduction: The effect of disease-modifying therapies (DMT) on vaccine responses is largely unknown. Understanding the development of protective immunity is of paramount importance to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

Objective: To characterise humoral immunity after mRNA-COVID-19 vaccination of people with multiple sclerosis (pwMS).

During 2015-2018, seven schools in rural Vietnam experienced diphtheria outbreaks. Multilocus sequence types were the same within schools but differed between schools. Low vaccine coverage and crowded dormitories might have contributed to the outbreaks.

Absolute targeted proteomics typically employs known amounts of synthetic stable isotopically labeled peptides which are mixed with the analyte and analysed by LC-MS to determine the concentration of proteins. In order to obtain more data, we evaluated the use of two different stable isotopes of the same peptide as spike-in for absolute quantification. For this purpose, peptide labeling by reductive amination was applied, which is a mild reaction for dimethylation of amine groups with very high yield.

To broaden and delve into the genomic information of , an important medicinal plant in many Asian countries, RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) analysis was performed and a total of 16,638 non-redundant unigenes (≥ 300 bp) with an average length of 755 bp were generated by de novo assembly from 17,580,456 trimmed clear reads. The functional categorization of the identified unigenes by a gene ontology (GO) term resulted in 2305 genes in the cellular component, 5577 in the biological processes, and 8056 in the molecular functions, respectively. The top sub-category in biological processes was the metabolic process with 4374 genes.

Protein phosphorylation is one of the most important post-translational modifications (PTMs) due to its vital role in cellular functions and signaling pathways. Protein phosphorylation is also known to be involved in the regulation of apoptosis. Previously, we have performed a SILAC-based analysis of tyrosine phosphorylated peptides of cisplatin-induced apoptotic Jurkat T cells.

A novel bilayer coating system for autonomous corrosion-triggered self-healing is demonstrated. The storage of the encapsulated monomer and the catalyst is separated in two different layers. The encapsulated catalyst is stored inside a metallic coating, which ensures its activity even for an extended exposure time.

Raspberry-shaped redox-responsive capsules for storing corrosion inhibitors are introduced, targeted to solve the drawbacks of conducting-polymer-based coating systems for corrosion protection. These capsules synthesized via the miniemulsion technique have a remarkable release property upon reduction (onset of corrosion) and cease release upon reoxidation (passivation of the defect). The self-healing capability is demonstrated by application of these capsules as part of a composite coating on zinc.

A series of simple (6-substituted benzothiazol-2-yl)acrylamides was synthesized and evaluated for cytotoxicity and antimicrobial effects. All six compounds displayed very significant cytotoxicity against four cancer cell lines tested including A549 (a human lung cancer cell line), Hela (a human ovarian cancer cell line), MCF7 (a human breast cancer cell line), and even MCF7-ADR (adriamycin-resistant human breast cancer cell line), with IC(50) values in microgram/ml range and as low as 0.66 μg/ml.
