The aim of this report was to describe a rare example of sporadic intestinal-type adenocarcinoma of the major salivary glands and oral cavity. A 23-year-old female patient presented an asymptomatic, progressive-growing mass involving the floor of mouth and the left submandibular gland. Fine-needle aspiration cytology, imaging exams, and surgical specimen findings were consisted with the diagnosis of primary intestinal-type adenocarcinoma, despite its similar immunohistochemical results with colorectal adenocarcinoma.

Background: Currently, the potential of FT-IR spectroscopy for rapid diagnosis of many pathologies has been demonstrated by numerous research studies including those targeting COVID-19 detection. However, the number of clinicians aware of this potential and who are willing to use spectroscopy in their clinics and hospitals is still negligible. While altered protein glycosylation is regarded a trait of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), the heterogeneous and dynamic glycoproteome of tumor tissues from OSCC patients remain unmapped. To this end, we here employ an integrated multi-omics approach comprising unbiased and quantitative glycomics and glycoproteomics applied to a cohort of resected primary tumor tissues from OSCC patients with (n = 19) and without (n = 12) lymph node metastasis. While all tumor tissues displayed relatively uniform N-glycome profiles suggesting overall stable global N-glycosylation during disease progression, altered expression of six sialylated N-glycans was found to correlate with lymph node metastasis.

This study reports 2 odontogenic carcinosarcomas, including the clinicopathologic and immunoprofile characteristics of these rare tumors. The first case occurred in a 22-year-old male presenting a bilobular mass involving the gingiva and bone of the premolar region of the left mandible, with paresthesia of the lower lip. Microscopic examination revealed a tumor similar to ameloblastic fibrosarcoma, with atypical mesenchymal cells; however, the odontogenic epithelium also showed atypia.

Mammaglobin is expressed in breast and salivary gland secretory carcinomas; however, its expression in salivary duct carcinomas (SDCs) still not well established. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the presence and distribution of mammaglobin immunoexpression in SDC ex-PA in different phases of the adenoma to carcinoma sequence evaluating its possible involvement in carcinogenesis and tumor progression, as well as to determine its expression in SDC de novo. Dentinogenic ghost cell tumor (DGCT), a rare, benign odontogenic tumor with aggressive behavior, causes bone destruction and cortical expansion. We report here a case of DGCT in a 38-year-old male, presenting with enormous extraoral protrusion, which radiographically was predominantly radiolucent with radiopaque areas. Microscopically, it was observed to be a solid ameloblastomatous proliferation with pseudoglandular structures associated with clusters of ghost cells.
