We conducted a county-level geospatial analysis of distance to abortion facility (Myers Abortion Facility Database) on fulfilled requests using Poisson regression.

A community-based geriatric interprofessional education experience and its impact on post-graduate collaborative practice.

While a growing body of interprofessional education (IPE) literature demonstrates a positive impact on learner knowledge, there is limited data on its long-term impact on collaborative practice (CP). With the growth of the aging population globally, understanding both the long-term impact on CP and sustainability of community-based geriatric experiential IPE programs are imperative. This study explores the impact of the Interprofessional Geriatric Curriculum (IPGC), a community-based geriatric IPE program, on post-graduate clinical practice among seven health professions.

Background: Neonatal unilateral vocal fold paralysis may arise iatrogenically, idiopathically, or in the context of an underlying neurologic disorder. Management is often supportive, focusing on diet modification to allow for safe oral feeding. We describe the clinical course of six infants with unilateral vocal fold paralysis who developed predominantly unilateral laryngomalacia ipsilateral to the affected vocal fold with associated severe respiratory symptoms and feeding difficulty.

Background: Syphilis is a sexually transmitted infection with increasing incidence in the United States. Presentations of syphilis vary widely and can be easily mistaken for other diagnoses, including cancer, especially in atypical cases.

Case Description: At her delivery after no prenatal care, a 35-year-old woman was found to have exophytic vulvar and perianal lesions, inguinal lymphadenopathy, and a new diagnosis of HIV, with a strong clinical concern for vulvar and/or anal carcinoma.

Surveillance of gynecologic cancer patients post-COVID-19 vaccine: Are CA-125 levels reliable?

Objective: The COVID-19 vaccine is known to instigate an inflammatory response that impacts cancer testing. We aimed to evaluate carbohydrate antigen 125 (CA-125) trends in gynecologic oncology patients in surveillance following COVID-19 vaccination to inform clinical practice.

Methods: This was a single institution retrospective study of patients who received a COVID-19 vaccine while undergoing surveillance of gynecologic cancers with serial serum CA-125 measurements.

We compared completion of advance directives (AD), designation of a healthcare proxy, and stage in the advance care planning process (pre-contemplation/contemplation, preparation/action) between older adults with ( = 110) and without ( = 50) HIV. Participants' mean age was 61.3, most identified as male (82%) and sexual minorities (74%), were racially/ethnically diverse (44% white, 28% Latinx, 16% Black); 37% had an AD and 44% had a healthcare proxy.

Background: Patient-centered outcomes research (PCOR) emphasizes patient-generated research priorities and outcomes, and engages patients throughout every stage of the research process. In the cystic fibrosis (CF) community, patients frequently provide input into research studies, but rarely are integrated onto research teams. Therefore, we developed and evaluated a virtual pilot PCOR training program to build PCOR capacity in the CF community (patients, caregivers, researchers, nonprofit stakeholders and providers).

A Qualitative Study of Living in a Healthy Food Priority Area in One Seattle, WA, Neighborhood.

Policy makers in several major cities have used quantitative data about local food environments to identify neighborhoods with inadequate access to healthy food. We conducted qualitative interviews with residents of a healthy food priority area to assess whether residents' perceptions of food access were consistent with previous quantitative findings, and to better understand lived experience of food access. We found that proximity to stores, transportation mode, and cost shaped decisions about food shopping.

Study Design: We analyzed data from United States residents in New Jersey, New York, and Washington who requested medication abortion from 3 family physicians using the online service from Aid Access between April and November 2020. This study seeks to examine individual characteristics, motivations, and geographic locations of patients receiving abortion care through the Aid Access platform.

Educational Needs and Preferences for Patient-Centered Outcomes Research in the Cystic Fibrosis Community: Mixed Methods Study.

Background: Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a rare, life-shortening, multiorgan disease, the treatment of which has seen significant increases in the life expectancy of those with CF. Many advances in CF care are thanks to the dedicated and active participation of people with CF as research participants. Unfortunately, most CF research teams still do not fully partner with people with CF or their caregivers.
