An intercultural perspective toward supporting antipsychotic medication adherence in clinical practice.

In the UK, the incidence of schizophrenia appears highest in Black Caribbean and Black African communities (four- to six-fold that of the White British population). The incidence of psychosis in other minority ethnic groups is also raised, but to a lesser magnitude. Although there are numerous environmental confounding factors, the data stresses the importance of optimising treatment in high-risk (minority) groups.

A symptom-based approach to treatment of psychosis in autism spectrum disorder [corrected].

The optimal management of autism with psychosis remains unclear. This report describes a 22-year-old man with autism and psychosis who was referred to a tertiary-level specialist psychosis service, following a 6-year history of deterioration in mental health starting around the time of sitting GCSE examinations and an episode of bullying at school. We describe the individualised symptom-based approach that was effective in his treatment.

Views from GP and Psychiatric trainees about getting experience in each other's specialty during training: A way to develop a shared culture?

The need to deliver holistic medical care that addresses both physical and mental health requirements has never been more important. The UK medical training system has been designed to provide all medical graduates with a broad experience of different medical specialities and psychiatry prior to entering specialist training. Furthermore there is a distinct crossover between Psychiatric and General Practice training, with programmes providing trainees with the opportunity to work alongside each other in the care of mental health patients.
