Unlabelled: Budd-Chiari syndrome (BCS) presents with various degrees of liver damage, and the choice of treatment depends on the type and extent of hepatic injury. Liver transplantation (LT) is considered as the final treatment option when other interventions are not feasible and when the liver injury is irreversible. We report a case of a pediatric patient with BCS who underwent liver transplantation from a living donor in the context of thrombophilic disorder.

Background: Heart rate (HR) monitoring is a medical standard to provide information about a patient's health status. In palliative care, relationship and social engagement are crucial therapeutic concepts. For fear of disrupting communication, social contact, and care, continuous HR monitoring is underutilised despite its potential to inform on symptom burden and therapeutic effects.

These devices typically utilize high-surface-area carbon-based materials as electrodes, which provide excellent power densities and cycling stability. However, challenges such as inadequate electrolyte interaction, hydrophobicity that impedes ion transport, and high manufacturing costs restrict their effectiveness.

The COVID-19 pandemic in dengue-endemic areas has caused a "double burden" because of the possibility of coinfection, especially in children who are vulnerable to both COVID-19 and dengue. This study aimed to describe the characteristics and identify risk factors for the severity of the coinfection in Vietnamese children.

Additionally, a hybrid ZnO-based photodetector (PD) is fabricated using the composite of MEH-PPV and CdSe/ZnS CSQDs, aiming to gain deeper insights. The combination of MEH-PPV and CdSe/ZnS CSQDs facilitates a broad spectral response in PDs, spanning from the ultraviolet (UV) to the visible range.

Diagnostic tests for determining the severity of HF often come with high costs and require specialized expertise, which makes it difficult to assess HF severity, especially in low-income countries or at primary healthcare facilities. Recently, red blood cell distribution width (RDW) has emerged as a promising, easily accessible marker associated with HF severity.

Currently, fruit bar is a convenient and highly nutritious snack made from fruit. The objective of this study is to utilize mango byproduct in order to develop a fruit bar processing technology, which is based on evaluating the quality (color, break force, vitamin C content, and sensory) when varying the pH of mango purée and the concentration of added pectin.

The ecological impact of the Ba Lai dam was studied by investigating environmental differences and the response of associated aquatic nematode communities (structure and morphometric characteristics) in both downstream and upstream sections of its estuary in comparison to an adjacent dam-free estuary Ham Luong, both belonging to the Mekong delta in Vietnam. Depleted dissolved oxygen, elevated methane and sulfide concentrations and increased accumulation of contaminants, including total suspended solid, heavy metals, and nutrients in the dammed estuary and its upstream section, indicated an impact of the dam on the environment.

Esters of 2-monochloropropane-1,2-diol (2-MCPD), 3- monochloropropane-1,2-diol (3-MCPD), and glycidol are present in infant formulas, follow-on foods and similar compositions. They arise mainly from the vegetable oil content and may cause harmful effects in consumers. The contents of these substances in formulas were determined indirectly by converting the esters to the free form, followed by derivatization and analysis by gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS).

Tri An Reservoir is a vital source of water for agriculture, industry, hydropower, and public usage in Southern Vietnam. Due to human activities, water eutrophication has become a serious problem in recent decades. This study investigated for the first time the impact of land use and land cover (LULC) change on streamflow and nitrate load from the upstream Dong Nai River basin, which is the largest watershed of the reservoir.

However, the development of diagnostic models for detecting and diagnosing pediatric diseases in CXR scans is undertaken due to the lack of high-quality physician-annotated datasets. To overcome this challenge, we introduce and release PediCXR, a new pediatric CXR dataset of 9,125 studies retrospectively collected from a major pediatric hospital in Vietnam between 2020 and 2021.

In light of our efforts to establish an epilepsy surgery program in a resource-limited setting, this study aimed to determine the outcome of the epilepsy surgery program in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), Vietnam.
Methods: In 2018, we developed the HCMC epilepsy core multidisciplinary team with members from various hospitals and centers.
The ecological response of nematode communities to dam construction has limited attention. In this study, the response of intertidal nematode communities in the Ba Lai River (Mekong Delta, Vietnam) to the construction of an irrigation dam was investigated. Nematode communities and environmental parameters were investigated during the rainy season of 2015.

Therefore, magnifying chromoendoscopy is capable of predicting the histopathological results of colorectal polyp without biopsy and remains their diagnostic values over time, especially in scare-setting resources. This study compared the images of magnifying chromoendoscopy between FICE, Indigo carmine, and Crystal violet and then assessed their diagnostic values based on colorectal polyps' histopathology as a gold standard.
